Carphone warehouse messed up my upgrade?

I was eligible for an upgrade recently and opted to through carphone warehouse as I was able to secure a better deal on the handset (£10 for the new samsung s8+) than going directly through my current provider vodafone.
Sales process was all nice and easy after a little bit of negotiation with the representative on the phone. My new phone arrived the next day at the agreed time through DPD courier. So far all so good.
I received no paperwork of my new contract with the arrival of my new phone with a felt a bit peculiar. I checked all of my emails and again no correspondence with a new contract from them.
Included in my new package was a 24 month subscription to spotify. I assumed when I turned on my new phone I would receive a messaged/code to redeem my subscription however nothing was received. I decided to call vodafone and find out to redeem my subscription.
Upon calling vodafone they advised my phone contract has not yet been upgraded and on their systems I was still showing on my old contract. They advised to contact carphone warehouse.
So it currently as stands at the moment I have just paid £10 for a brand new £600 + handset and still on my CHEAPER previous contract.
In all honestly I think it might be a bit silly to contact carphone warehouse and advise them of their mistake because I have had some terrible experiences with them in the past and only went through them this time as they where saving me some money.
Through my vodafone online account it still says im eligible for an upgrade or can swap to a sim only deal in 15 days.
Has anyone else had this happen to them before or advise the best thing to do?
The way it seems to me as carphone warehouse have messed something up and supplied me with a brand new handset for £10 and im not tied down to a contract.
Just dont want to get stung in the future with a huge bill.

Did you check with Voda that CPH hasn't just opened a new acc rather than upgraded the old one? That's the kind of thing they do . . .0

Yes I have. No new contract in my name or address.0

I'd make contact with CPW and sort it out, they could come knocking for their money anytime in the next 6 years if you decide it's some sort of present and keep quiet...====0 -
I've had the odd free (albeit cheap) phone from them in my time. I always keep quiet; it's up to them to ask for it back. It's highly unlikely they'll ever notice, especially as time goes by. But then that's just me...0

This looks like a lucky situation, what did you decide to do in the end? I reckon Vodafone are just being slow with the update seems to take them months to do anything,0

Depends what the offer actually was and if you can prove it. If it isn't clear and in writing, not a lot. In that scenario all you can do is make a complaint - which I presume you've done, even though it's unlikely to get you very far. If the offer was cash and you can prove it, send a LBA then sue if they don't pay. It tends to be the only language CPW understands, but without proof it's a lost cause.0

I'm in the same position as urself a few months ago. I upgraded with carphone warehouse in September and on my Vodafone it still shows I can upgrade or terminate my contract now, its been saying this for last couple of months so I'm presuming carphone warehouse didn't pass it over to Vodafone about my upgrade, did they ever catch up with u, I'm debating if I should just cancel and start again or maybe upgrade thru Vodafone but I just don't want to end up with 2 bills,0
