Good time to visit - it's unbearably hot in the Summer months. Protaras is a lovely area and handy from Larnacre. We're in our 50ths, so not looking for "yoof" activities, and we thoroughly enjoyed it there - some lovely beaches with a long boardwalk, and lots of shops/restaurants. Far more modern than Pathos which is looking quite run down and drab in parts these days. There are now day trips from Protaras across the "border" to Turkish occupied Famagusta which I'd highly recommend as it's quite a sight! As said above, Protaras/Ayia Napa aren't as bad as they are portrayed - lots of families go there now as both towns have rapidly expanded recently so they're now a lot more than 18-30 destinations. October/April are our favourite months there.0

Whatever you decide do remember that the two Easters are at different times in 2018. That will impact demand, both in terms of UK holidaymakers and Cypriots leaving/returning to the island to see family.

It's horses for courses. We go every year but, after staying in several different towns and villages, decided that we prefer Polis. We normally go in July/August but last year delayed it until September.
It wasn't hot enough for us.0 -
Thanks everyone. We have booked flights to Larnaca for second week of April.
We will be hiring a car so are not restricted by where we stay.
Seems to be lots of reasonably priced accomadation available.0
