Cyprus in early April

Thinking of booking flights with .Avios points for next Easter. To .cyprus. We usually book this far out to ensure getting school holiday dates.
Just wondering what io expect early April in terms if weather, resorts being open etc..
We usually go to the Canaries at Easter but fancy a change next year.
Also looking at Andalusia and the Algarve. Hoping to book flights within the ext couple if days. Any advice or experiences of Cyprus in April would be great.
Thanks.

Spring and Autumn are the best weather wise.....nice and warm with zero humidity.

Tourism is the bread and butter, so most places will be up and running.

The sea might be a bit chilly.

My son has just returned from four days in Cyprus, and said that it was hot in the daytime but got very cool in the evenings, which is the norm in most of the Mediterranean. Even in the Canaries, it can be cool in the evenings at that time of year.

Thanks. Sounds perfect for what we're after. not after a full on beach holiday, and realise it wouldn't be warm enough anyway. We'll have two teens with us.
Any reccomendations what resorts/ areas to stay in? We would be flying in to Larnaca.

Yes, sounds very much like what we're used to in the Canaries. We usually go to one of the Canary Islands at Easter, but fancied a change for next year.

I've stayed in Paphos, which I really liked, and my son has just stayed in Protaras, which he really liked!

I'm guessing your son is a youngster then! Protaras is my idea of Hell on Earth! Its all loud "English Pubs" with photographs of food on the menus and all you can eat Full English breakfasts. Essentially, it's Blackpool, but with lots of whitewashed walls and much better weather. *shudder*

Actually, he is 35 and not interested in "tacky". Perhaps it being out of season, he thought there were some quite upmarket places to have a drink in the evening. They even went to Ayia Napa and decided it wasn't as bad as they'd heard. Again, perhaps it is a different ball game in the height of season, like most "party" places in Europe. I have a hard time convincing people that Ibiza is not the hell hole they think it is!

Funnily enough, just talking to someone about Ayia Napa recently. She too went out of season and said that she was very pleasantly surprised at how much she enjoyed it.

Not my idea of fun either, but like most places, I'm sure there is another side to it!

I have been to Benidorm a couple of times. We had picked up really cheap flights and accomadation, and decided to give it a whirl! Suppose, this has a similar reputation to certain parts of Cyprus.

We surprised ourselves. We really enjoyed the beaches, and Tapas in the old town. We also visited Althea and Denia, on day trips, and really liked both.

We found it really easy to avoid the tacky Brit bars and all day breakfast joints.

As regards to Cyprus, my friend's exact words on visiting Ayia Napa were that she got to spend a brilliant week there before all the idiots started to arrive.:)

As you're flying into Larnaca then unless you're hiring a car then it makes sense to stay on the east of the Island If you're hiring a car then it doesn't matter where you base yourself.

We had a house in a place called Peyia, just west of Paphos slightly inland from Coral Bay, so spent most of our time west of Limassol. We sold in 2006, and apart from a week in Paphos as part of a cruise/stay we haven't been back.....we bought on a whim and soon decided it hadn't been such a good idea, so for us it's not somewhere we'll bother with again.

Like I said in my first post, you'll be choosing a good time of year to visit weather-wise.
