***Updated in post #5 ***

Has anyone applied for one recently?

Is the estimated credit limit they give you the actual limit that you get?

Also, we applied for one with a 0% fee, but on the application form it said that there was a 3% fee for BTs. Was this just their standard blurb?

Thanks

If the 0% is a promotional offer only, then the 3% will relate to BTs at their normal rate.

How did you get on? I thought the estimated credit limit/soft check tools are normally pretty accurate.

He's still waiting to hear - they said 2-4 days so we should hear in the next couple of days.

I thought I would update this in case it helps someone else.

So my husband's actual limit was about two thirds of the estimated limit.

But the Ts&Cs which came with the card said that there would be 3% BT fee whereas the card we applied for was advertised as 0% (ie. 0.5% initially which is refunded in 60 days).

When we rang them at first they wouldn't budge because they pointed to the following on their website:

Credit limit, interest rates and promotional periods will vary based on your individual circumstances.

We asked to be put through to a manager and explained that the above did not say that the BT fee could vary and if it had then we wouldn't have applied. They eventually agreed that we were correct and said that they would refund the 3% fees which they have been doing.

Where is the soft check too? I can't see it anywhere on the TSB site?

I may have misunderstood did you have to apply to get the estimated credit limit or was there an eligibility check that doesn't effect your credit rating?

Oh ok. No, my husband did a full application. At the end told him an estimated credit limit.

It's a shame they don't have an eligibility check!

I applied through online banking, said I was pre approved and no credit search.
I got a £2k limit with full promotional rate, that was for the platinum card - not bad considering I was only approved for an Aqua card in January, which was when I opened the TSB classic plus current account.
During the application process they said they would contact me with a decision within 2 days but it told me the credit limit I was provisionally accepted for during the application process.
Since when has the world of computer software design been about what people want? This is a simple question of evolution. The day is quickly coming when every knee will bow down to a silicon fist, and you will all beg your binary gods for mercy.
