My vent for the day.

When you take your car to a main dealer and give them £200 for a service you would at least expect them to use the correct grade of oil.

AA coming shortly to trailer the car back to them

Idiots. How did you know they used the incorrect grade? Was it on the invoice?

Yes. Noticed when I got home. I wonder how many others they have done it to, how many would check and how many would actually know. I knew it was not just a paperwork error when it took them 25 minutes to phone me back. They said they would collect it in the morning but I said I didn't want the engine starting so AA are hitching it up now.

Why the hell are you getting the AA involved? Just drive it there, its not going to do any damage taking it back. Even if you shoved 20W/50 in an engine needing 0W/30, as long as you don't go mental it'll be OK for a short trip. Its prolonged use that does the damage.

It will do no harm whatsoever in driving it back to the dealer its when they go out on road test after theyve serviced it and havent re filled it with oil ..................ive seen it happen .....needless to say cost the dealer a engine.

Main dealerships often buy large drums of oil and in some cases and some dealerships, use the same stuff on everything. This is what happens when salesmen get promoted to managing the service dept, something that's very common in main dealers, as they tend to be very admin/sales biased companies.
