British smelly fart gas from the sounds of this thread.
If your mum falls for it then ask her to give me 6K for doing nothing too as it would be unfair on me not giving me 6K.0 -

Interesting david29dpo....especially when considering that National Grid do not actually "sell" gas.....plus I doubt that they are resiting and replacing a boiler for £475?0 -

I assume he means connecting a supply e.g. laying pipes.
National Grid have taken over from Transco I believe.0 -
an elderly lady we know, a good friend of ours, had a BG service contract. they have been out to her CH problem twice now. after the last time it still wasnt working (CH).
lady asked me to check it out.
i cured the problem in 10 minutes. and im no corgi plumber either.
the quality of BGs work was appalling. lady has now cancelled the contract.
BG= expensive & crap.Get some gorm.0 -
Just 3 weeks ago I had my whole house re-plumbed, (central heating). From an ancient boiler and hot water tank system to a brand spanking new combi boiler totally re-sited into the garage, and 7 newly installed radiators. Total cost £2500. Your mums system sounds bigger so a bigger combi and a few more radiators/pipes etc, but £5000 more? The price is a joke.
Here's how to get the best plumber...
Call in British Gas again, make sure you get one of the fitters, not a sales guy, then ask them straight out if they'll do it "on a private". If they won't they'll recommend one of their colleagues who will. They're all on awful money and they all do "privates". You will save thousands and get a 1st class job by a fully trained fitter.0 -
Floop, You can go on the corgi website and do a search for corgi registered engineers in your area.
get at least 3 quotes and this will give you a good indicator of the true cost of a proper job. hopefully if they live local it will reduce the cost and i always find that knowing where a tradesman lives has its advantages

Well if you knew that, I don't understand your post #13
I don't undertsand what you don't understand Cardew....the fact that Transco have changed their name to National Grid, have little impact on the fact the National Grid do not supply Gas...?
That matter aside, I may have misinterpreted david29dpo's post, as I was concentrating on the op's topic of a boiler replacement and resite.0 -
