in Credit cards
Hi all.
Just wondering if anyone has had a similar experience. Barclaycard have sent my partner a credit card in my name without her asking for one or giving her permission. I am not named on the credit account and we have no financial agreements in both our names.
The letter came addressed to her, but I'm just curioys as to whether thry are allowed to do this, they must have got the information about me from electoral roll as I dont have a barclaycard of my own.

I would personally check your credit reports to make sure that someone hasn't been applying for cards in your names - they may have planned to intercept that card before it got to you.

They won't have intentionally sent you a credit card if it wasn't requested, and certainly not picked you off the ER.

I don't think so. Someone has had a hand in this. You need to speak with Barclaycard and inform them of the irregularity.0 -
Barclay card don't just send out cards, she will get an explanation when she phones.
If she did that first you probably wouldn't have to make this thread.0 -
It would appear that your partner has applied for a supplementary card for you on her account. That is why the letter came addressed to her. Lucky you!
If you don't want it or she has changed her mind and doesn't want to give it to you, then call Barclaycard, cancel it then cut it up.

Ben8282: As I said in my post, Barclaycard have sent my partner a credit card in my name without her asking for one or giving her permission...
The point is, we have no links financially and there's no reason for them to assume I'm her partner and not merely sharing a house. So, to create a card for me seems suspect.

So, has you partner actually called Barclaycard, or are you still trying to flog a dead horse?
As with Ben8282 has stated, I reckon your partner applied for one for you and maybe she forgot / changed her mind and didn't want to give it to you and is now trying to cover her tracks, that's the more likely explanation.
Barclaycard don't just send out additional cardholder cards out randomly, and certainly not just because you live at the same address. If that was the case, what about shared house situations etc?
