Using phone abroad ?

Hi There,
I was wondering if anyone could help i am going to Egypt next week and i have a contract 3 mobile phone i get 75 mins a month free.
However i cannot use these mins and i have checked the tariff and it is £1.80 a min.
I wont be using my phone alot but worried that i could soon make up a big bill at that price.
Is it possible to buy another sim to use abroad that is cheaper ?
Im not really sure as i havent used a phone abroad before does anyone have any suggestions for me.

You can probably buy a sim when you get there. I was in Sharm el Sheikh in May and there was a vodafone shop in Naama Bay where you could buy sims and credit. Alternatively, get roaming enabled on your phone, check the call charges and compare them to the cost of the sim and credit when you get there, 3 have recently reduced roaming call charges so this may be cheaper.
