You sound like a lovely grandson, but please do not use your own money to try and help your gran. You have your whole life in front of you and you need to save for your own future. Your gran would not want you to jeopardize your future for her. Your gran has been very lucky to live to 87, so many people die before that age.

Thanks for the kind replies. It appears my last visit was at a bad time, as things have changed for the better. My nan is now regularly taken out of bed into a chair which she says is comfortable and taken to the communal lounge. All the staff are nice and other residents pleasant. She also has a new radio and cd player for her room to listen to classic radio and her hundreds of cds. On my last visit she was back to her usual self and accepting of the situation and appeared quite content! So once again thanks for the replies and things are looking up!

She is angry at my mum and aunt blaming them for putting her in a home which to her is a nightmare.
She was pleading with me to help her when i visited and it made me think as her eldest grandson is there anything i can do?

I'm pleased to read your update that Nan is now doing better.

I just wanted to urge caution with regards to the above - if your Mum and Aunt have decided that she needs the level of care provided in a home, I wouldn't suggest you undermine their decision. It would have been a very hard decision for them to make, and they would have considered alternatives. Telling them that you think they made a wrong decision, is not something they'd want to hear.
