The HPI check just ensures that all is above board on the vehicle. Quick guide here: https://www.rac.co.uk/buying-a-car/rac-car-data-check/what-is-a-hpi-checkMaMoneyMaMoney wrote: »That I don't know. I also don't know what HPI is and what it entails (though I shall start googling this..so thank you for mentioning the acronym!)
Should I ask?
A main dealer will have no doubt done the check . I have purcahsed three new Hondas & three nearly new Hondas in the last fifteen years & the main dealer checked on each.0 -
I cannot see why you cannot post the dealers details. You could even post the car up to satisfy my nosey streak :-)MaMoneyMaMoney wrote: »Yes it's a Nissan main dealer. Happy to give the name if I am allowed to do so.0 -
The dealer is the Nissan Glyn Hopkin North London one.I cannot why you cannot post the dealers details.
The car is a Nissan Qashqai 1.2 Dig-T Tekna, Panoramic, Petrol. We went this morning to the dealer shop as we booked a test drive. I wasn't sure about the 1.2 so I wanted to drive it and after driving it I was quite happy. Initially I was assuming 1.6 would have been better (more powerful so less stress for the car when it comes to push on the accelerator), but with three people inside (me driving, my partner and the salesman) I drove from the shop around the city a little bit going through the motorway as well. The car seemed to do just fine. No particularly noisy and vibrations wise it felt good as well. I noticed I would have had to push the accelerator a little bit when on a high gear at low speed but hey..You could even post the car up to satisfy my nosey streak :-)0 -
Seems to get a good review: https://www.honestjohn.co.uk/road-tests/nissan/nissan-qashqai-12-dig-t-2014-road-test/?
Probably a better buy for someone not doing big mileage than getting a diesel.0 -
Yep, I've been told that, too. We guesstimated we would do 6k miles per year. I won't use the car to go to work and back but only in the weekends when we feel like having a day out.Probably a better buy for someone not doing big mileage than getting a diesel.
By the way, I ran an RAC HPI and looks like the car is fine except for an outstanding finance of type "Unit stocking". My paranoia is now back. I'm documenting myself as I speak but again any recommendation would be much appreciated. So far you all helped me a great deal.0 -
Unit stocking finance is normal and nothing to worry about. The dealers have to pay for the cars on their forecourt upfront which would be a lot of money so they finance the cars. They will clear the finance at point of sale.0
