Just caught me!!!! Agree boxes should NOT be advertised/sold fully loaded. I'd be interested in the exact law on the 'cache' file that is used when viewing streams-how on earth can that be enforced or deemed illegal if nothing is downloaded? Seems this act is aimed at COMMERCIAL producers/sellers OF 'FULLY LOADED' boxes...& not at the individual who, for example might stream a not shown in the UK yet episode of say Game Of Thrones??? Back later....all very interesting!

Yes, they should not be advertised/sold fully loaded.... within Europe. Also does not mean you are not allowed to purchase one, you just can't sell them.

If one obscure item is left off, does that no mean it is is fully loaded any more? :D

You will have to google or use youtube for an answer as before long this thread will get locked.

You load kodi onto a device eg an adroid box and then plug in a usb stick with home movies on.

OP yes you Debtmonkey, did you manage to get the firestick sorted ? Loads of youtube videos for that, send me a PM if you need help re kodi.

Hi DCFC79! Fire stick is ok as using as a secondary android wirelessly upstairs now. It's just that I wanted to be able to view HEVC/H264/5 4K files....as mentioned Schission V88 I have whilst cheap can't cope well at all with 4k (but seems absolutely fine for 1080p & all other smart functions)...so looking for a permanent Ethernet enabled box for main use (& before anyone shoots me down re: pirated stuff etc my sis & friends have huge DVD/BLU RAY collections that I will encode-the online stuff will be via legitimate sources)....the H96 pro + 3gb/16gb (or 32gb storage-not fussed re: storage-RAM is the main issue) box is looking best....as at worst I get 17.5 mpbs & I 'hope' once BT take over in 2 weeks time to get around 24-25 mpbs....as I'll need all the help I can get IF I want to stream 4k compressed H254/5 etc from web. The 3gb RAM & the Octa Core & decent processor I hope will give me a fighting chance of online streaming!!! f not it'll be USB sticks-a pain as takes time to download etc.

1080p anyway upscaled by Samsung 4k even on V88 looks BRILL-even compressed files are amazing-but having watched a 4k copy of the Revanent (which I thought was compressed to 20gb but is in fact only 5gb on H265)-sourced legally I might add !) its SO good that it would be fab to play 4k files directy from online.

You used to be able to press a keyboard function or number to on screen check buffer size-seem to remember it was zero-doesn't work on V88 or Firestick remote? Anyone any idea how to display buffer amount whilst movie plays? As I said-the V88 brings no message saying 'buffering'...just very very sticky playback (every single setting looked/tweaked/tested t but won't improve on V88)-hence my hunt for a better, permanent box.

The Xiomi Mi looked fab for 4k but only wireless-wanted ethernet-as asked on another thread hooking up a USB to Ethernet adaptor to the MI box is going to cause driver issues & possible loss of connection speed.

For the extra 25 quid or so the H96+ is looking good....probably pay a slight premium & sourde from UK so if any issue can send back/fix etc.
