British Gas Contract vs Rias

Currently I pay £16 monthly for a British Gas Contract - means they come out should I have a problem with heating/boiler and annually service the boiler. A friend told me about Rias, and insurance co for over 50's which seems to offer the same and more - ie repair of oven(minus the boiler service) for £4.99 monthly! Has anyone experienced their service please? I know I can get boiler serviced seperately for £70 ish, so would still make a saving if I change. My MIL saved much more as her BG contract was more expensive. Replies appreciated - Thanks!

If it's the same policy I had a year or so back RIAS don't actually do anything. You arrange and pay for the repair yourself and put in a claim for reimbursement. There's a fairly high excess (?£100 IIRC) and what is covered is fairly limited.

But check - this could be something new and different and better.
