Is there a way to recover the emissions test results from the previous MOT as I wasn't given these?

Thanks for that, but unfortunately it doesn't offer the emissions test results. I know I can visit any MOT testing centre and pay for a re-issue of the certificate, but would that have the test results on it?0 -
The car has been progressively getting more sluggish under 2000rpm for 2 months and the vehicle failing to start on Sunday is what prompted me to get it checked out.
That sounds like a fairly good indication that the fault wasn't present four months ago, doesn't it?
Modern diesels are a REALLY bad choice for low mileage use. You will continually have problems unless you either buy a car suitable for your use, or change your use.0 -
an EGR valve can be stripped and cleaned or can also be cleaned using a spray cleaner but first option is the best
a main dealer is not going to do that and will just say that the only option is to replace as they have to guarantee the repair
am i surprised that a car with north of 90K has a sticking/broken EGR valve problems? No i am not and if you are doing low miles then a diesel car is the wrong car for you and you will have no end of problems and the diesel particle filter could be the next thing to go wrong0 -
Thanks for all of the replies.
The car is a Ford S-Max 1.8 TDCI. The car has been progressively getting more sluggish under 2000rpm for 2 months and the vehicle failing to start on Sunday is what prompted me to get it checked out.
Because you don't go anywhere so its getting choked up. If you mostly do short journeys or urban driving you shouldn't be buying a diesel. Is there a way to recover the emissions test results from the previous MOT as I wasn't given these?
A faulty EGR valve won't affect the results of a diesel emissions test like it would on a petrol. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0
