What make/model of phone and are the batteries rechargeable, which I suspect they are.
  • Nicad or NiMh? What capacity?

Nicads were banned from general sale years ago and anyway, NiMh is a replacement for NiCad size for size.

Size for size yes, but the chargers are different. A NiCD charger wont charge NiMH properly unless its a dual intelligent or switchable one.

    Their phones maybe old?

Banned NiCD? My Ryobi batteries are NiCD and they are not that old, or my memory needs a recharge? How long have i had them?

Just my luck more obsolete stuff to replace :)

I hate the way Li-Ion batteries go speedy speedy then stop instantly..

Assuming you are looking for AA rechargeable nimh batteries, morrisons do a decent set that are 2000 or 2500mah.

IIRC power tools were the exception to the rule for some reason. And I have multi chargers that will charge Lion, LiPo, Gell and NiCad/NiMH the NiCad and NiMH are on the same program, however, I agree basic chargers supplied with equipment may be dedicated, that said, unless the phone was bought before 2010 it'll have been supplied with NiMH batteries if it rechargeable.

  • If I'm buy AA rechargeables, I normally buy 2000mAh Eneloops (Sanyo)

They are very good at holding their charge
