approx cost for installing gas central heating?

Bear in mind that once gas CH is installed it will need servicing every year and repairs from time to time. A service contract will cost a couple of hundred pounds a year. In a small home this will significantly offset the relative cheapness of gas compared to to electricity as a fuel. Storage heaters may not be the most elegant way of heating but once installed need no servicing and are unlikely to need repairs. I've had mine for 30 years and only needed to replace a couple of knobs. I would probably have had to replace a gas boiler at least once during that time.
It's supposed to be but not all of us do. I haven't the last 5 years as it's expensive. I know if you live in rented they do it but after a few years it can go towards a new boiler as there not built like they used to:T:T  :beer::beer: to the lil one:beer::beer::beer:

thanks for comments - def going to go with a new gas installation and a new modern heating system. Just trying to work out costs etc.0

Well, to start with I wouldn't base your costs on a BG quote-they are typically 40% more than an independent RGI.
Don't forget to add the cost of a meter change, as you will probably want to come off E7 metering. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Gas may be expensive.
NSH really isn't that bad if you know how to use it. Modern night store heaters are programmable, but automatic charging units can be just as good for much less money.
You need to think about water heating too. If you move away from NSH for gas, remember to change your electric meter to a non E7 meter otherwise you will be paying extra for peak day rate units.0 -

Costs of a full install depend on type/size/building/parts, of which posters here no nothing. You are not going to get any meaningful numbers based on the info you have given.
Do you know if you are even allowed to do what you want? What do the freeholders say?0 -

Sorry, I know, it's an old thread (and I'm looking at new heating) but that is a very expensive quote.
If anyone is seriously looking at a new boiler then you really need to read this.
There's also a survey that was done by 600 gas engineers and they voted on the BEST BOILER in 2018
Thank me later :beer:0
