No other beneficiary .My son is only child and he never married, it is my name that is on the form. I asked if they could pay out to my son as is sole beneficiary. He got the house and remainder of other life insurance once mortgage and debts were paid off . This one was written in trust to me. I'd be happy for my son to get it as the house needs 40k worth of work done to it.0

If the company that your father worked for is still in business, make that your first call. They should retain the employee records (with NI numbers) which may make it easier to find the correct people.
If they want to break the Data Protection Act without the slightest defence, they might even give you that NI number.
All the employer could legitimately do is send a letter to the last recorded address. But if, for example, they hold a more recent address via their pension scheme, using that for this purpose would be fraught with problems.0
