Missing trustees

Invest in a Private Investigator to trace them.
There's no way this should be required. The trustees cannot be contacted - after all this time it is unreasonable to think they could be - and Abbey Life should know whom trusteeship reverts to when that is the case. Make a formal complaint, and if their final response doesn't resolve the matter, go to the Ombudsman.0 -
Is this now the parent company http://www.thephoenixgroup.com/our-companies.aspx
If so, might have better luck prodding Abbey Life through them?Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0 -
The solicitor dealing with the probate is going to write to the address we have for the witness, I have done some research and from what I can see he no longer lives there. They have a geneology company they use to trace people.
I am going to fight this all the way. On checking the copy of the form I have there is space for trustees to put addresses down , these have a line drawn through it. Surely abbey life should not have accepted that form with out addresses ?0 -
Have you tried to track then down via Facebook?

Yes I've tried Facebook but all I know is Karen has blond hair. Think will have to get professional tracers to do it. It will cost but I think it s a risk worth taking0

Before you do try going further up the chain of command. Call centre handlers work from scripts and don't have the flexibility. This could save you a pile of money.Yes I've tried Facebook but all I know is Karen has blond hair. Think will have to get professional tracers to do it. OP you say you both took out policies when your child was born. Have you got your policy and what does that say about Trustees and if they should predecease or not be willing to serve.
PS I suggested the use of a PI earlier and still think that will be the quickest way to resolve this.
Another poster suggested you should sort out your policy re trustees - have you ?Never pay on an estimated bill. Always read and understand your bill0 -
If the company that your father worked for is still in business, make that your first call. They should retain the employee records (with NI numbers) which may make it easier to find the correct people.0

My policy was term assurance , stopped when our son was 18.0

Are there other beneficiaries of your ex's estate apart from your son? If/when the trustees are located they may well vary the nomination given that it was made many years ago & circumstances have changed greatly since then.
If there was/is a new wife or subsequent children, you might want to consider this before you start spending your own money tracing the trustees.Seen it all, done it all, can't remember most of it.0
