Received a letter today about changes to Asda credit card cashback. They are changing to a voucher scheme that can only be spent in Asda stores.
Dear XXXXX,
The way you receive your cashback is changing from 06 June 2017
As a valued Asda Credit Card customer you will continue to benefit from:
• 1% cashback on your Asda shopping and fuel and 0.5% everywhere else - even abroad
• 0% for 6 months on purchases of £200 or more from George.com
• Unlimited cashback on purchases using your Asda Credit Card
The way you redeem your cashback is changing to voucher redemption (voucher to be spent in Asda stores). You can redeem vouchers once you have built up £2.50 cashback or let it build up until you are ready to treat yourself to something from Asda. You may want to save towards your holiday outfits, or even a Christmas shop!
Simply log on to your Online Account Manager to download your voucher, or display it on your mobile device at the checkout in an Asda store.
You can spend your voucher on anything apart from fuel, baby milk and Kiosk items.
From now on I'll just use my TSB credit card which gives me 1% cash back when shopping in ASDACreation Financial Services Limited

I came into this world with nothing and I've got most of it left.0

I'm not happy with the changes, I don't have my own computer and printer so it's going to be tricky for me to print out the vouchers. I hate being forced into the online world. :sad:0

I have been trying to use the cash back vouchers for a while. Complete nightmare. World War 3 breaks out every time I try.to use one. The staff haven't got a clue what to do with them. One of them told me to take it elsewhere. Where do you suggest I spend an Asda money cashback voucher? I have been told by the same supervisor that she has never seen them 3 times. How can you keep saying I have never seen one of those? She also announced to a queue of people waiting behind me that I was trying to use a Morrison's voucher . I have now been told the only place I can use it is the kiosk at the front of the shop. I. have stopped shopping at Asda apart from going in to take £2.50 of shopping to the kiosk with my vouchers. When they say I don't know what to do I tell them very assertively to get their barcode reader on it.The last two times I have been successful in getting them to do as they are told.0

Put a complaint in to the store manager and also to their head office! Asda are pretty good at giving you cash for complaining, plus it might help someone else down the line if they actually introduced store training nationwide to deal with it.I'm a Board Guide on the Credit Cards, Loans, Credit Files & Ratings boards. I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly, and I can move and merge threads there. Any views are mine and not the official line of moneysavingexpert.com0 -

Asda are becoming masters of giving you money and then making it extremely difficult to spend it. Their Christmas Savings Card is a good example. Now comes as a mag strip card (as before) and a key fob with a bar code.
More than half the self service tills (SST) at one store, and all the SST at another store will either give a loud beep and reject the fob bar code or not respond at all. A fair proportion of the tills will not accept the magnetic strip card. The poorly trained staff treat you as if it is a problem of your own creation, and the store management all plead "well nobody else has complained". Asda always had a bit of a down market image, and the staff have an attitude to match.
