Abandoned car in my parking space

council should be able to sort out any abandoned car, regardless of whether it's on public or private land. Is there no way of calling them? I know you said you can only email but there can't be really be a local authority where you cannot talk to someone, surely?Plenty of phone numbers for Barnet council on their website, if all else fails use the Complaints one.

Do you own or rent?
If you rent, make it your landlord's problem.
If you own, make it the management company's problem.
I think you might have missed the decimal point.
It might be worth £700 in good working order, with an MOT, keys, documents.
As it is, it's worth weigh-in value, less the cost of collecting.
No. Being the registered keeper does not make you the owner. You would be intentionally depriving the owner of their property - that's theft.
Why has it taken you two and a half years to do this?you're probably onto something with the decimal point... without the keys/paperwork it's not worth much you're right.
It's taken me 2.5 years because I don't have a car and my life is quite busy so this is pretty low on my to do list...0 -
Get some mates over to bounce it out, or if you know anyone with a 4x4 drag it out.0

You could have been renting that space out for all this time......someone working nearby would have been happy to pay for secure parking.0

I don't see that Barnet have any responsibility. It's on private land, not a public road or space, not stolen, not vandalised or likely to be an environmental hazard. Parking a vehicle long term does not in itself make it 'abandoned'-there are other factors. The management company or LL are responsible. And I'd be asking for a return of the annual parking fee, if there is a separate charge.
If it belongs to someone on your estate, the mgt co. can insist they move it, or move it for them, so after 2.5 years, I think an investment of £2.50 to find out the registered keeper would not be unduly extravagant.
Why have you left it so long?
Have you checked online to see if it's taxed or SORNed? If not, then action will be taken more quickly.
It's been left so long because my sister was living in the flat the first 1.5 years and now I live there and neither of us drive so it's just not been a priority to sort it out...
Thanks for the advice0 -

But I'm not sure how I would rent out the space anyway? Are there message boards for that kind of thing?

Police have probably been looking for this for over 2.5 years in relation to a serious crime lol. You just never know lol. Now get it back into the "system" by involving management company who will arrange it to be towed and eventually it will end up in a scrap yard and it's history will be checked and settled......Then if anybody is looking for it a electronic/paper trail will now exist and you will have done your bit.....:)0

It's a pretty suburban area without a tube station nearby... and I think most people that need secure parking in the area just park in the sainsburys car park

Did you try reporting it to the police as LOST property?
After 6 weeks ask the police for a letter saying you are the owner?Changing the world, one sarcastic comment at a time.0 -
