They are back, roofing merrily in the rain.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

I want it on the record that I, Gers of this Parish, have had to water my entire garden for the first time since the second week of August last year! :j:j
The grass is still wet but the plants were extremely dry. I've put off cutting the grass until tomorrow as the wind is biting. Watering the plants is one thing, heaving the mower around is another.
Another delight of my day has been discovering that the Costco biscuits I bought the other day (by accident) not only freeze very well but defrost equally well. Now I can take one at a time out of the packet, if I can be bothered to go outside to the steading freezer, and not be faced with the temptation of 15 of the delicious things.:rotfl:
Dumpling - like so many others you are too busy taking care of others to look after yourself. Be kind to yourself.
I'm off to be kind to myself by having a cup of tea and one now defrosted chocolate shortbread square. :beer:0 -
Afternoon all.
Such a busy day and I'm exhausted. Got my feet up and a cuppa.
((hugs)) to Dumpling and anyone else who needs one.
Csarina, sorry your holiday wasn't success. Have a mini holiday at home this weekend and treat yourself to a take away or two or a meal out.
Jackie, that was excellent advice your mum gave, a good bed and comfy shoes are soooo important. Glad you had a good holiday.
Gers, congrats on the watering, it has been noted
Speky, did you get a new bed?
HH, envious of you and your forthcoming retirement. I hope we are all invited to the celebration on board 'ship'
AOD  at roofers working in the rain, they must have left the tarpaulin back at the office:p
Lainey, hope MrL enjoyed his birthday lunch.
Nothing of note to report from here, trying to stay positive and not to worry, but it is a struggle. Thank you all for thinking of me :A
Enjoy the rest of your dayx

hi chums had a good haul from the CS ,in Glossop I found a nice padded red/pink jacket which is ideal for using in the car for £5.00, especially as I had looked at the Edinburgh Mill shop and similar cost £30.00
Then I also dug out a Ruth Rendell book for 20p that I hadn't read .We travelled onto Stalybridge and in the red cross shop I found a nice soft leather shoulder bag in red for £2.00
:):) so I am a happy bunny.
There is a nice market hall in Glossop, and I bought some bangers ,eggs and bacon and some beautiful ham to take home with me along with some cheese and some 'oven bottom baps' which look nice and I will use tomorrow for our 'going home picnic lunch' whilst travelling. I have a cooler bag and some frozen cold blocks to keep stuff cold in the car and it will save me going to the shops until Monday at least
We had lunch in 'spoons in Staylybridge, and a very nice peri-peri chicken and chips followed by apple crumble and custard means I am stuffed at the moment
Just got back to the holiday bungalow and having a cuppa and feet up.
Having a rest before the big drive back to kent tomorrow I am out at a charity quiz on Saturday night so will hope for some good drying weather on Saturday for my holiday washing:):)
JackieO xx
PS be kind to yourself dumpling xx0 -

Hugs to TA and MrTA and also Dumpling.
The dentist managed to salvage my broken tooth yesterday but I have another appointment for tomorrow, with the hygenist.
DGD arrived at 7.45am this morning and we played all day till DD collected at 4.15pm. We also made cherry cookies and did lots of crafting.
Dad was supposed to come for tea tonight but he felt too poorly. I wanted to get the Doctor but he wouldn't hear of it.
Off now to have a wander around the web and watch a bit of TV.
Enjoy your evening all.
(Sorry just read my post back and it sounded a bit terse, it was not meant to be. I'm just having a downer tonight, ignore me.)Failure is simply the opportunity to begin again, but this time more intelligently0 -
I often read this thread but don't contribute much. I can't bear to pass by when so many of you are going through a grim time.
Mr and Mrs TA: My goodness, you have done enough waiting for a lifetime. Life seems to be suspended while you are waiting for news that is going to affect your life so much. All we can do is to listen and support you however we can, but at the end of the day it's you who have the stress and worry. I just wish you strength and peace.
Dumpling: You are such a loving and lovable person, it shines through all your posts. Not only do you have your own problems but you are dealing with your DDs troubles as well which is almost worse. I am in awe of how you remain so cheerful and the way you are tackling your weight problem is inspirational.
Karcher: You are obviously going through a very dark time, and yet you are so supportive to others here. I do so hope that you soon catch a glimpse of light at the end of your own particular tunnel. Bless you.
Csarina: I detect a new note of determination in you. It's about time that you rebelled and started looking out for yourself. You can give up what you really want and allow others to ride roughshod over your feelings for too long. Long live the revolution! We will all be cheering you on. This is the only life you are going to have, you will never get this time again, so go for it!
There are so many of you struggling along with health problems or difficult circumstances. I salute you all. You are truly awesome.
