I disagree, they are scammers, they target the gullible and vulnerable, tell lies, and are totally unscrupulous, go for the jugular.
This is an entirely unregulated industry which is scamming the public with inflated claims for alleged breaches of contracts for alleged parking offences, aided and abetted by a handful of low-rent solicitors.
Parking Eye, CPM, Smart, and another company have already been named and shamed, as has Gladstones Solicitors, and BW Legal, (these two law firms take hundreds of these cases to court each year). They nearly always lose, and have been reported to the regulatory authority by an M.P.
Hospital car parks and residential complex tickets have been especially mentioned.
The problem has become so rampant that MPs have agreed to enact a Bill to regulate these scammers. Watch the video of the Second Reading in the HofC recently.

and complain in the most robust terms to your MP. With a fair wind most of these companies may well be put out of business by Christmas. You never know how far you can go until you go too far.0 -
I have thought this, but not sure if it’s going to create more hassle for myself.
The solicitors and their parking company have enough against themselves already, so I expect it to be discontinued again.
Did you see Henry Hippo won a £500 counter claim case on pepipoo yesterday?

Hi all.
Bit of an issue, I’ve just realised my hearing is under 2 weeks away and I’ve not submitted my WS or any evidence!!
Do you think I’ve blown it and will have to pay the full fee? I’d imagine the claimant will be confident of a win on this now.
I’ve been very busy and had personal ‘things’ to deal with and thought I’d be getting a letter with a date in October as I believe that’s what I put on my DQ.
Any help would be much appreciated!0 -
No. Never too late. It's not clever of you but you need to rescue it and stop asking us.
Do it on Sunday, and serve & file it on Monday.

People have still won without a WS as the judge defaults to the original defence. So if the original defence is a strong one make sure you send the evidence to court and the other side ASAP.
But if you are going to do that, may as well knock up a WS that explains the evidence in context for the judge. They want you to tell your side of the story (with pics)This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
To be fair their WS was late and I think they only sent it because I never submitted one on time, thinking they may have a chance?!
But thanks for the info.
My only (other) problem now is that I don’t think I can attend as I have scheduled consultancy work!0 -

You have to tell the court at least 7 days before the hearing so as not to inconvenience them and the other side. So tell the other side too. There are cost implications if you don't.
The other point to note is not sending a WS, and not turning up, and not telling the other side/court 7 days before is very normal. It is also the one the ways in which parking companies win by a large margin and get what they ask for, even if it is not merited.
But you can play the DJ lottery as the other side may mess up too. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -
So the hearing has come and gone in my absence and I’m waiting to hear the outcome. I’ve tried calling to find out, but the courts seem slow in processing it. The hearing was over a week ago.
Being naturally curious, I’m wandering if the outcome is ‘positive’ as I would assume Gladstones would have been quick in sending me a letter to state what I owe them?!
Does anyone know if they send letters out if they’ve ‘won’ and go all quiet if the outcome is in the Defendant’s favour?0 -
No idea, sorry, you can only wait for the Order but please tell us the outcome. Did you do the right thing and excuse yourself to the Court, in time?PRIVATE 'PCN'? DON'T PAY BUT DON'T IGNORE IT (except N.Ireland).
