Reading the set-side/CCJ threads now.
I have mail forwarding in place, and they had declined to respond to my letter dated 20 July 2017, so saw no need to enter into further correspondence with them.0 -
nosferatu1001 said:sure you were told to update THEM with your address? That advice is on every thread.

Guess I'll have to pay, as much as I hate lining Simon Renshaw-Smith's pockets...0

Wait!
While you shoud be telling them, if your last comm was 3 years ago, they should have found out your address - they had no reason to believe that, after 3 years of no contact with you, that the address was likely to still be correct.
Have you read other threads on set asides yet? YOu coudl offer a consent on the basis that £100 is cheaper for THEM than £255 when you get your set aside costs2 -
Last comm was 3 years ago, and it was from me to them where I strongly denied the debt and advised then I would defend it vigorously should they attempt court. They failed to respond back to me, so I considered the matter closed.0

Spoke to the County Court Business Centre:
Advisor: If you call Excel and pay it in full today it will be taken off your credit record, Excel are pretty efficient, we see a lot of these.
Me: You see a lot of them, sounds like they're running a bit of a scam?
Advisor: *Chuckle*0 -
Yes, i know. We all know this.
Again
Thats reason enough to get a set aside. They cannot assume the address was good, so service of the claim form never happened and they were never entitled to a default judgement.
You have read other CCJ threads yes?
So you have a choice
Hurt Excel: pay up, and file a set aside. No risk to your credit. Small cost risk.
Dont hurt Excel: pay up.3 -

Well it's your choice and I fail to see why it's being discussed in public
It's either do or don't , as Nosferatu pointed out
You have been scammed and are talking of giving in to sc#mmers , not the reason we help thousands of people who come here , mse is here to fight for consumer rights and justice , not to cow down to sc#mmers4 -
Esepcially when paying now doesnt remove your ability to file a CPR13.2 set aside.2
