Gov charging Dessel
Options
I brought my car 2013 a Dessel after the government said it was better for the environment which I paid more for than petrol!
Now they say they are going to charge more to drive it and park it and I will lose more
When selling it if I can !!
Is there a partition going anywhere ??
Or is there someone doing anything for us some one with some clout ??
Come on Martin you sort all sorts out :money:

So, your principles are such that you were prepared to pay extra for a 'dessel' to help save the environment, but now you're not. Given up on the environmental crusade, have you?0 -

The diesel emissions shouting has been going on since 2014.

It's not "the government" who are introducing low emission zones and the like - it's local authorities, mainly TfL. Consultation on that has also been going on since 2014.

Diesels DO emit less CO2. If you look solely at CO2, then they are "better for the environment".
They also emit more NOx. NOx emissions have been known to cause an issue since at least the 1980s, when they put paid to development of lean-burn petrol engines. NOx has been seen as a serious health hazard in the centre of London for approaching a decade.

The problem isn't so much one of diesel per se - the problem is that modern diesels have been too highly developed, in some ways, with marketing pressures leading to much higher power outputs, which is what's primarily led to the emissions "cheating". The engines are perfectly capable of performing to the official tests and producing low levels of NOx, as required by the emissions standards, but they are also capable of much higher performance, which sees the NOx emissions soar. It's also added massive levels of complexity, which means modern diesels are thoroughly unsuitable for short-journey urban use, yet drivers have been seduced into mis-buying because of the very low VED and high official economy figures. Yes, I deliberately said "mis-buying", not "mis-selling", because the information on this has been widely available for MANY years, since DPFs in particular became ubiquitous north of a decade ago.

I didn't know that Toyota made a "dessel" version of the Yaris ?0
