This is my second year on the challenge and initially this was helping me to put some extra funds aside to overpay my mortgage and I think I paid almost £2,000 pounds over my normal payments. :j

Then we took our eyes off the ball and had nothing saved for Christmas last year, had nothing saved for insurances that need paying in the first couple of months of the year and an expensive holiday to find the money for. Along with a few things we needed doing in the house and we have a £1,800 credit card balance.
Its on 0 % which is good but means until this is paid off, the overpayments on the mortgage have come to a halt.
Not the end of the world and this challenge helps me to earn a little bit extra and keep things on the straight and narrow.
Needless to say I have started a regular savings thing so we arent in the same position next year.

    £1.16 earnt on Citizenme
£14.10 from a couple of days tips.
    £45. overtime

what we tend to do is if we get a discount on something we were buying anyway put that money aside as that is money saved.

reward to entice you to spend more? i dont think many of us do that, unless we can get something out of it. frugal/tight lot we are....:rotfl:
that's good to know. Was checking how it works. I noticed posts about clubcard points on certain items, however no mention of whether the item was on offer. Regarding frugal/tight I thought that it was part of learning on the Debt free board to be moneywise, call it frugal/tight if you want. However I didn't think the ethos of the site was to do without, but to have get the best price for the things would use/need.

I get regular emails from Top Cashback. Rejoined Swagbucks in April. So far cashed in £25 in Amazon vouchers. Got enough for another.

    £1.08 citizenme

£5 mastercard from swagbucks, it is cheaper to get this than paypal and can be converted to paypal after you have received the card

    £10 amazon from incompass

£5 argos voucher from dailymail rewards

    £8.20 checkout smart
    Couple of questions.

What are citizenme, incompass, checkout smart and dailymail rewards?

How do you transfer the MasterCard from swagbucks once received to paypal? Does it expect you to have same email address for paypal that you had for swagbucks?

Trying to work out if I would have any realistic chance of getting £5 a day.

Before even attempt the challenge on a monthly basis I get £23plus from rewards and interest from banks. The plus is interest on variable amounts in an account. The £23 is known interest and rewards.

Not sure if Gregg's rewards counts, have noticed if you get a card you have to buy more drinks than if you use the rewards app. You have to buy 2 fewer drinks so could argue those 2 drinks don't buy are a saving. However, you can argue not moneysaving to buy from there, take own drink etc.
I used to go to Costa on way to work, I changed to Greggs when they changed opening hours and discovered they were cheaper. £1.80 for a breakfast pasty and tea is much cheaper than £2.35 for just a coffee at Costa.

I recently got a new phone that I saved up for and got direct from manufacturer rather than as part of a contract. However it is not a low end model so I can now use Payquik etc, should I choose to. Cheaper phones don't seem to have the NFC style option. Used it to take advantage of extra clubcard points.

    Apologies for all the questions
Paid off the last of my unsecured debts in 2016. Then saved up and bought a property. Current aim is to pay off my mortgage as early as possible. Currently over paying every month. Mortgage due to be paid off in 2036 hoping to get it paid off much earlier. Set up my own bespoke spreadsheet to manage my money.

Datlex I mentioned tesco clubcard points on the now TV box in case someone was thinking of buying one. Like my friend did . She was buying anyway so it was a bonus.

If you are already buying and can get a discount yes its great saving. I don't always buy things on offer or with an extra incentive if I don't need it.

Yes the forums are about having a different mindset when doing things. Like my DH who will happily pay full price for a meal as doesn't like using those voucher things but is happy to use next vouchers towards clothes.

I am tight. There are things I won't pay for or do if I know I can get cheaper or a discount for. Years of having very little made me that way.

I was going to do a post on phone apps when I had a chance. DH made us do DS homework this morning.

Citizenme is a phone app. NO referrals just download app on iPhone or android and register your details. They send you notification when they have paid surveys. These pay immediately into PayPal so you do need a PayPal account. Don't know if you can contact them to be paid by another method.

Incompass is another smartphone app. You can only sign up through surveys. So when doing surveys through sites like swagbucks, mysurvey etc keep an eye out for it. Some find it big brotherish but I'm not bothered.

Checkout smart is a cash back site for certain purchase on food like milk tinned alcohol and other products. It goes hand in hand with quidco cash back snap and save who do the same, and topcashback although think their list has changed slightly. Also another app called Shoppitize. Some of these can be done on pc others only on smartphone.

Daily mail rewards, if you buy the daily mail newspaper there is a code that can be entered online. Previously you could save the rewards and cash out for vouchers for various things like tesco, Amazon, Morrison's, debenhams etc. But from this month they are changing it from this month to nectar rewards only. Not sure what the benefits will be like. Will post when we find out.

If you buy the sun or know someone who reads it they do something called sunsavers. Yes you could just put 50p in a pot at home but they will be bringing out some new rewards soon like they did previously with sunperks.

With the Gregg's app if I was regularly buying coffee because I wanted to, rather than bringing own from home, I would count the saving of the 2 free. But I would make it go further by taking that money saved and popping into savings account or pot. Then each month you could use that money to make an overpayment to something or as a treat for something.

each person would do their own thing. Some would just see it as a saving but not include it.

    Hope some of this helps.

I'm on my phone so can't do links as I lose this page if I try to open other browsers.

    That's very helpful thanks.
Re Now boxes I know they are often half price so if the 500 points is additional that would be great. I suspect a number of people would be looking to buy soon as GOT is being repeated with the new season soon.

I would not call it tight to delay or use a cheaper source for a purchase. I delay getting my hair done and always ask for the cheapest stylist for example.

Would be great to see a thread on apps that potentially earn money. I don't buy a daily paper so can't take advantage of those.

What a great amount well done.

Don't worry about forthcoming months. Any extra made has all hit to be a positive.

Total now at £798!!!! all from overtime. Should hit my target next week with the overtime I have planned, so happy with that. Still have made anything like a start selling stuff and I really do need to get going with that. Gonna list some of the bigger household bits on G-tree this week and see how that goes. Was thinking of putting some of the stuff into an auction, never done it before so not quite sure, anyone have any experience of this and how it works?? Thanks in advance.

Hope you're all doing well, off now to catch up on all your posts
