Round two of eBay went for £87, and Also cash back from changing bank accounts at £75 :)

Off on holiday next Thursday so really trying to be as Frugal as possible now.. Just wish I could get my household bills down from £1700 a month, Its crazy! Thats before food and petrol and spending money is even thought about... One day at a time, one payment at a time, and one month closer to freedom. xxx

I have to admit I'm quite happy with the household bills...it's been a long slow process but our total outgoings including food/petrol works out at anywhere between £1,100-£1,200 depending on the food bill....still aiming to get it under £1,000...it is possible but would mean paying car insurance/tax yearly and clearing the credit cards. We do have a cheap house which comes with a cheap mortgage though as I know for a lot of people the rent/mortgage is there biggest expense.

Have you given it a good review and seen if you can cut corners anywhere?

Perhaps sad, but I have a spreadsheet with bills in one collum and next has bills again the lowest I can get it - so I keep an eye on it and chip away wherever possible (it's even highlighted, grey means I can't change it no matter what like council tax and yellow for things I can change like energy bills etc lol). Better money in our pockets for sure though.

Just sold a set of Uni books on eBay for £60 :D Will have to take off postage, eBay fees and PP fees...but it's a good start :)

Fingers crossed this leaflet thing actually happens, he said orignally he might be able to drop them off in the morning but then never replied to my e-mail....so not sure if I'll be getting a call in the morning or if I'll never hear from them again at this point!!

write down all your household bills. Like kayalana99 write the ones that cannot be changed ie council tax rent. then ones you could work on like tv licence insurance etc.

sometimes it's cheaper to pay up front than to stretch out over direct debit. if you can't pay it all off in one go then try to start a savings pot to let you pay it in one go next year.

things like gas ans electric make sure you give monthly meter readings so your bills are always accurate. overpay when you can even if paying by dd. even a £ here and there all adds up. it will chip away at your forthcoming bills.

check if you are entitled to anythjng like help with a new boiler. these are more energy efficient ans will use less.

same with fridge freezer and washing machine.

get a slow cooker and pressure cooker. slow cookers use less energy than the oven. pressure cookers cook thongs faster and need less cooking time.

shop around for better bank accounts and make sure you are not doubling up on insurance where you don't need it.

Er, yes. eventually:o. As you know I was having all sorts of issues with my BT Wi-Fi but now I've switched to Plusnet and have a new router from them things are running like a dream:j. It wasn't the phone itself that was the problem after all:j.

I haven't done any moneymaking with it yet though. Sorry, Aesop:o

    Afternoon peoples

Welcome/welcome back bloomfelt, so very confused and Sallybysea. I have added you all to the challengers' list (post 3) and good luck with the challenge. Please ask if you have any questions :D

Well done everyone for another great week money-making :T :T Just a third of the way through the month atm so plenty of time to add to the funds :D

I'm really chuffed as managed to get my electric supplier sorted eventually. My payments kept getting changed every time I sent meter readings and they said I was due a refund but couldn't process it atm ? I tried to call them and booked a call-back, which actually happened on time ! Long story short - fixed payments for next six months and £70 refunded :j

Hope you all having a great week
