They signed it when they shouldn't have. Your consequential loss: £0.
You are entitled to claim full damages. You could take them to court for the £0.
You did not tax the car when you should have and so received a fixed penalty. This is nobodies fault but yours. It's up to you to tax it not up to the DVLA to remind you to tax it.
In summary, just put it behind you.
Edit: Just noticed Evans Halshaw paid the fine for you. That was very good of them, they didn't have to do that. You should resolve this by saying thanks to them and leaving a positive review of them online, as they obviously offer excellent customer services.0 -
