Having a House Valuation without selling

As the title - how does one get your house valued for market value if you don't intend selling?

Just noticed two houses in our street for sale for WAY above what I would expect - would like to get our bungalow valued. However, we almost certainly will not be moving, but would like to know so that we can make informed decisions about other matters.

Any ideas?

Call a couple of estate agents, explain you're not thinking of moving at the moment, however you will be doing so over the coming years and you would like to get an idea of current value so you can begin to consider your options.

Any decent EA will recognise that whilst there may not be an immediate fee forthcoming you represent a future client.

Play the EA at their own game,

Or you could wait to see what your neighbours houses sell for and go from there. Surely it is only worth what you sell it for in the future, not what an EA says it might be worth now.

I'm terrible at lying, just can't do it. Hubby can though - but just wondered if there is a way to do it without lying!

The ones I've noticed are houses, ours is a bungalow, so not comparable. Thanks anyway.

I do understand that it is only the value NOW, but would still like to know.

Just say you're thinking of moving & would like to know what your property is worth so you can look at houses accordingly

Yes, that sounds like a plan. Thanks!

I'm the same! I'm about halfway through doing up my house from a wreck and would love to get a valuation when it's done just for my own curiosity, I'm a terrible liar though and will just embarrass myself somehow!

We fully renovated ours when we bought it two years ago, so would like to know if we have added any value.
