Leon - many thanks and I think this is exactly what I need.
As a right novice I have been looking at the eBay pictures and before I order I not sure about the wiring. Do these types of speakers need a electricity power source? is speakers wire soldered onto the ends of the speakers and then all go into the part of the amplifier labelled "speaker output"?
Also like you I am thinking 6 speakers will be better, but the ebay listing states "This Package has been designed to run two 8 ohms speakers at 4 ohms on one channel input. Therefore allowing you to run 4 speakers on this two channel amplifier". Will 2 additional speakers work ok without purchasing anything else?
Many Thanks0 -

The open plan room is 10m X 4 m. The multi room setup, although I don't think this is what we need but unless I am missing something I am struggling to see the main benefit. Is it solely that you can play music from 1 source (I.e dab player) and the have the audio outputted to many rooms?
The multi room is like a hub for your whole house.
We have everything (sky box, dvd, free view, apple tv, ipod etc etc) in a small room and they are all connected through a hub and are 'hard wire piped' to each room. There is a keypad in each room (like a light switch) which turns the 'room on' and where you select the input you want (tv, video, music etc) and it plays on TV and or through the speakers. It just means you can watch or listen or play what you want in any room without having the equipment in there. It was all installed when we converted our barn but nowadays there are very good systems which are wireless. It works for us because we have all the equipment in one place out of sight.0 -
The speakers are hard wired and do not need any further electrical supply. Just a case of running twin wire through the ceiling cavity. They come with wire and the connections. And yes, just connected to speaker output on the amp.
You'll probably get some boffin say you shouldn't add more speakers but I did and it's fine.0 -

If buying speaker wire, go for 79 strand or more.
Not expensive, but you will love the sound .0
