Glad to hear it's progressing, but bear in mind there's a long way to go, with plenty of potential for changes of mind, communication breakdowns, surmountable and insurmountable problems, etc.

Being generous to the agent, perhaps they said something like, "I will contact them today and get back to you as soon as I have their reply." You took this to mean you would get an immediate responnse.
The agent can't possibly know in advance that they can get a decision the same day from the vendor. In any case they may be using your business analogy and deciding that a period of silence is their best strategy in the negotiation.0 -

If buying a property in England were similar to corporate life then things would be a lot easier! However there are are lot of variables and one person has control over very few of them.
Any sale is only going to move as quickly as the slowest component, and right now it's unlikely to be obvious what the slowest component is.0
