Going from EE to Orange - phone unlock needed? Unsful info.

If anyone has a phone locked to orange and has swapped there orange sim for an ee one you might have needed to ask them unlock your phone (ee sims are recognised as t-mobile).

They have asked for me to pay £8.99 to unlock a ex-contract phone - I'm not paying!

I've also got a sim from white mobile (now white calling) which is a virtual network using orange:). (cheap rates, extra phone for selling on-line.)
Now I've realised that I've been using the phone that is still locked on another (virtual) network.

Phone still works without paying to unlock:j

I'm sure some of you know this, but anyone who doesn't might find this information useful.
