  • Just want to check something , on the letter it says to appeal go to appealpcn website which I did but there is this before continuing..

Tick here to confirm that you were the driver and that the PCN you have received contains the correct information

Tick here to confirm that you were not the driver or that the PCN you have received contains incorrect information

If I tick the top box does it affect the appeal argument?

Sorry I'm asking so many questions but I just Want to get this right.

Have you followed the advice in #11 (or ignored it??)
  • I'm not sure where you are referring to with #11?
    I haven't done anything yet!

#11 is the post from Coupon Mad immediately above yours (which is #12)

Never reveal who the driver was - it blows the keeper's protection under PoFA 2012.

Tick the second box to confirm the second option ..... 'or the PCN contains incorrect information'.

Nasty little traps set for the unwary!

  • My bad, yes I was in the process of copying the text from coupon mad's linked post when the website that the letter said to appeal with had the tick box question , which stopped me briefly.

Right. Tick the second box!!! Got it.
  • On the following page it asks for my name and address and such. I take at this point as i clicked the "contains incorrect information" I'm ok to give my details here?

If you don't give the information they require, they will ignore you, your appeal deadline will pass and they will then refuse you a POPLA code - a favourite trick in PPC world.

If you don't kill this at POPLA, you'll have 6 years of uncertainty as to what the PPC might do next. They're benign at the moment (but so we're ParkingEye 4 years ago - now they sue 25,000 people a year). We can't predict how things might unravel between now and 2023!

if they already have your details because they sent you a postal pcn to those details, then its perfectly acceptable to acknowledge those details are true, or alternatively give your details again (even though they already have them)

ie:- the keeper received the pcn in the post , the KEEPER appeals the pcn , the keeper confirms their details or gives them again (seeing as they already have them from the DVLA)

so yes to giving any pcn reference

    yes to KEEPER (if asked)

no to DRIVER (BECAUSE NOBODY SHOULD GIVE THE DRIVERS DETAILS , IF KNOWN)

yes to giving the keeper name and address etc

YES to using the blue text BPA template from the NEWBIES sticky thread

I used the template provided by coupon-mad in the link.

The appeal has been sent and I will keep you posted how it turns out.
Thank you everyone for your help, it is really appreciated.
