Just to update people on this. Unfortunately John Lewis have acted pretty unprofessionally on this. At no point during the last 8 days have they once replied to any of my letters or honoured promised call backs. I've called them 4 times, each time the adviser has told me that the previous adviser has not acted correctly and that they (this time) are doing it right. The final straw came on Saturday when a promised call back never came. It's not that they are denying a refund, it's just that they are continuously passing it to someone else to deal with.

It's with regret that I have decided to just go down the route of using American Express's charge back process as the only method of resolving this. I would rather have worked through the problem with John Lewis but alas they don't wish to enter into any kind of dialogue.

I'd also just like to add that my review on the Dyson website never appeared.

A heavy use gadget like a vacuum cleaner that is expected to last a good few years, run on battery power will always disappoint either in power or longevity especially of the battery.

Interesting that you don't think the 'normal' setting on the V8 is better than on the V6 - having recently upgraded mine, I have found it just as good, if not better.

We have house rabbits and use the handheld in cleaning their room, so they are put through their paces in picking up hay and fluff, and the V8 is remarkably better than the V6 in terms of battery life and how clean it leaves the carpet.

Or could you be comparing a worn out V6 against a brand new V8?

    How old was your V6?

I'd never used a v6 mate, it was only a thought of mine that they possibly turned down the v8 to get more life out of the battery.
Dyson said to me in their reply they run at the same speed on the v6 as the v8 normal mode. I don't have evidence, or grounds to believe that Dyson are lying so will I have to take them at their word on it. I genuinely don't think they would blatantly lie either.

This means they still seem to think they have doubled the battery life with some chemical changes. I'm still very sceptical of that. If that was the truth, I would have thought that Apple and Samsung would be all over the battery manufacturer trying to buy them.

I don't know what the answer is to be honest.

On looking back, one thing I didn't think was true was their claim that it takes 5 hours to recharge. I didn't think that was right.

Would you agree with them on that in that it takes around 5 hours to fully recharge? I must admit I wasn't paying the attention to that part, I just left it for 24 hours. I don't want to take it back out of the box again to check, it's a nightmare to repack :(
