We're only using Split to top and tail the trip to Bonia and H. Two nights going and one on the way back.
Two nights accommodation just outside the Old Town close to the Ferry Port will cost £55 total.
On our one full day in Split we intend getting the 0830 Jadrolinija Ferry to Hvar Island. It's a 2 hour crossing taking in some beautiful scenery, and costs 47 kuna pp each way [£ = 8.5 kuna]. Getting an evening ferry back to Split.
We stayed on [beautiful] Brac for a week recently, and the hour long ferry crossing from Split cost 28 kuna pp each way. Probably a quarter of what Wightlink would charge for half the distance between Portsmouth - Isle of Wight.
Following morning we'll get a bus to Mostar @ €17 pp [takes 4 hours].
Tbh costings aren't too much of a priority, as I know we'll be getting excellent vfm, and as we're travelling independently there's no 'middle-man' to pay. I'm reckoning on averaging £25 night for a double ensuite, meals will be inexpensive, and a half litre of beer about £1-£2. Getting around by bus, tram, and train is cheap. I'm hoping that the train between Mostar-Sarajevo is running, as it's supposed to pass through spectacular at a nice chuggety-chug pace.0 -
Thanks zagubov, much appreciated.
Thanks Pete, brilliant info as always.0 -
I've been to Bosnia many, many times and highly recommend it. Mostar is a lovely city and as a tourist you probably won't be aware of the ethnic tensions. There are some lovely restaurants overlooking the river and the bridge has been rebuilt - local kids sometimes jump off it into the river for fun.
In Sarajevo stay in the old part of town. Again, great food, lovely, lovely people and lots to see and do. There's also multiple trips you can take - I recommend getting driven out to see the waterfall.0
