I have Window7 64
I restarted my laptop at one point to see if the Chrome plug in problem would be resolved that way, but it didn't restart and shut itself down.
I restarted it again and attempt a start up repair, but it said that there was a fatal error and turned itself down again.
Since, that's all it's doing, I cannot start windows, sometimes I see the windows logo, then it shuts down again.
Does that mean that my laptop is dead for good?

Try a start up repair using installation media; Add https:// to links

Once you have created bootable media....

If that doesn't work, we can look at the hardware.0 -
Before you start recovery be aware some options destroy your data
The first thing to try is to press F8 as it is starting up to see if you can get a menu showing SAFE MODE.
Also incase it is a virus disconnect any network or turn router off.
Report back if you are able to get into safe mode. Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
I can get to the safe mode option screen, but when I choose to start in safe mode, it shows a list of downloaded files, then at the end it shut off again.0

... then at the end it shut off again.
About the shutdown, have you had heat and/or fan problems? What's the EXACT make/model of laptop? If you put your general location in your Profile, somebody here may be able to come and help you.0 -
It's a Novatech computer. Can't remember exactly which one, I bought it 3 years ago and it was the cheapest of the gaming laptops.
I might have a couple of disks where I had to copy something on it, it might be the recovery disks or something, I remember being prompted to do it as soon as I had the laptop running.
I would not want to reinstall everything, the question is, where did I put the disks? Will have to look for them, and hope there is a repair option on it.
I believe the fans were working harder lately, and were getting noisy.
I didn't install anything on the computer lately, so it can't be software related.0 -
If you install the recovery to factory disks they WILL wipe data.
Do you have any other PC's?
You could then remove hard disk and take data off
F8 Safe mode usually boots a version of windows with no network and very minimal drivers.
You description does not sound familiar so need a pic, you can post it to imgur.com and then link to it with the yellow picture icon aboveThanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -
This is what it should look like
The repair your computer can help in some situations, I am fairly sure it warns you before doing anything destructive (like reinstalling Windows to Factory Default)Thanks, don't you just hate people with sigs !0 -

Following my links and the instructions behind the links will not result in a loss of data.
You don't need to find any disc. Just create media from the image to which I have linked and follow the instructions to get into the Recovery Environment.0 -
