This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Good morning everyone.
I slept really well last night, was in bed fairly early, and have woken to a glorious morning. The sky is blue with little fluffy bits, the sea is sparkling and Jura is bright. These are the mornings I love.
There will be a morning of being busy for my friends as they pack up their things, not just yet though. I expect that the two other 'children' will cycle down to me and leave their parents to get on.
I'll get both beds here stripped and washed and out on the line today as it may be a while before it's mild again.
Happy Saturday wherever you are.0 -
Morning :hello:
Welcome back elona I'm glad you had a good time x
karcher I hope you managed some me-time x
My clothes are sorted, a couple of things are looking a bit tatty (why did I keep them?!) so I'm on the lookout for replacements. I don't want to spend any money, I have a £100 gift card for M&S (had it for Christmas) but can't find anything I like. If I don't find something in there soon, I'll spend it all on leggings, knickers, bras and socks. It's tops I have problems finding, I must be an odd shape because they never quite seem right, they either look OK but are a bit uncomfy, or they make me look pregnant :rotfl:
I managed to hang some washing on the line, took me a while because I was being careful but felt a sense of achievement when it was done, lol. The airer is still in the house, I've leave it there for a few more days just in case but hopefully I won't need it, I'm looking forward to folding it up and putting it away in the shed. The kitchen cupboards are almost all clean, I'll get the last couple done this morning. More washing today and I need to vacuum the lounge and stairs. That's it for the day, I have NCIS and Bull to watch and I don't let anything interrupt my saturday afternoon viewing

Morning folks and thanks for the start GERS. A glorious start here too. The same is forecast for tomorrow and then it's downhill back to winter they say.
After breakfast I shall pack our food supplies for the next few days, as well as our winter woollies, then we'll set off over to the caravan for, hopefully, a bit of R & R. We haven't set up the bird feeders etc yet over there so that will be the first job once we have unpacked all the stuff that's to take with us. I don't think it will take our birdie friends long to realise we are back with our food supply for them.
DD opened the front blind over there earlier this week to find a young deer outside the window. A small group live in the surrounding woods and fields and very occasionally venture down to the caravans. Great excitement when we spot one!
Still no WIFI over there so will "see" you when we get back Tuesday evening. Once the repairman has gone, after fitting the new part on the water heater and we're back to running on gas, we'll pack up and head home. Then on Wednesday morning there's the dreaded scan results to face. We'll try to put them to the back of our minds for the few days we are away.
Have a good day folks and (HUGS) for those wanting/needing them. Glad to have you back safe, sound and refreshed ELONA. Take care all xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
Morning everyone,
Up early this morning and the dogs have been walked & fed, there is some light rain falling at the moment but no way near as much as we need so will be watering later.
My car wouldn't start yesterday (battery?) and as my DOH had left early for a day at the cricket had no-one to give me a jump start so it meant a day at home, actually turned out quite productive as I caught up on all my chores, made soup and generally pottered. I really hope we can sort the car today without need for a trip to the garage as it's been an expensive month!
Not a lot planned for today, I was going to plant out a couple of packets of salad leaf seeds in my mini greenhouse but they are predicting such cold weather for next week I might leave it for now.
Sorry to read that you are struggling Karcher is there a way that you can step back a bit from work, go part-time or find a less stressful environment?
Have a good day everyone.
ETA hope you have a restful trip TA x0 -
Up and drinking my first cuppa of the day, accompanied by a couple of ginger nut biscuits.Looking out of the panoramic windows in the bungalow the weather looks promising with not a cloud in the sky and nice and bright.
Off to investigate Bury Market today so comfy shoes and a few bags for holding our finds
Hope everyone has an enjoyable Saturday whatever they are doing

Middle DD stayed over last night so will offer her a breakfast once she surfaces. There is bacon and eggs, cereal , toast, home made pancakes and porridge to choose from but her favourite is boiled egg and toast so will probably have that.
While she does a bit of painting upstairs I will be sorting through a few more boxes and making a shopping list for the beef and ale pie I want to cook tomorrow. It might be an idea to cook the base of the pie tonight so the flavours have time to combine and then I only need to make the potato pastry tomorrow.
Treated myself to a new set of bathroom scales but not sure how to operate themand want to get back to eating healthily. When i go shopping this afternoon I must remember to get more fruit so I can snack on that instead of rubbish.
It is overcast and dull at the moment but managed to get a lot of washing and outdoor drying done in the last couple of days . Not looking forward to the cold snap but forecasts say the weekend or the bank holiday should be warmer so fingers crossed. I made the mistake of going out without a jacket yesterday and was frozen so will make sure I don't do that today. Older dd is abroad on business so SIL comes over for lunch tomorrow with another two dds and I have frozen a helping of cottage pie for him to take back.
Hugs to all."This site is addictive!"

And a beautiful sunny morning it is too. Bedding is washed and on the line, I did the rest of the washing when I got home yesterday and it dried in no time, just a couple of bits on the airer.
Also got the grass cut last night, it was one of those evenings where I don't want to come in but it got quite chilly.
I'm off to test drive a car this morning - not that I want or need another one but they were giving a voucher for a hotel stay so it would be rude not to!
Glad the travellers had a good time, enjoy your break TA.
Quick turn around for you Gers, reminds me of when I ran a B&B!
Hope you all have a lovely weekend, take care. XX0 -

We were at a scout award ceremony last night. DH and some of his scouting friends were recognised for their dedication and received framed certificates. Went back to friend's house afterwards. I was driving and made sure we left before midnight. DH could sit all night and drink red wine!
DS2 is off to walk llamas with friends today (not even joking) and I am going into London for afternoon tea with ex work colleagues. Will be good to catch up with them.
Hoping to be back to see the FA cup semis final featuring my beloved Tottenham. COYS!
Have a great day all

We need to get some stuff to the tip today so I hope OH can borrow the truck for an hour, it would be nice to get rid of all the rubbish.
