  • Does anyone know how they would have my card details? As some of you have said, the transaction was handled via a 3rd party.

Who did you give your card details to originally?

The 'HELP YAYMODCENTRAL' thing, when I was paying.

'HELP YAY MODCENTRAL' or '*GOCYBERSHOPPING 2005'?

I think I would be insisting that Santander undo the recent transaction simply because you didn't authorise it.

The fact that Santander can't manage to do that is not really your problem.
Keep on insisting they undo the recent transaction and if they still refuse, go through Santander's complaints procedure.

If there is still no resolution, take your case to the Financial Ombudsman Service.

    This, 100%.

No need to even mention the first transaction to Santander. Just state that the GOCYBERSHOPPING one is an unauthorised and fraudulent transaction and get them to deal with it.

Then it seems clear to me that 'HELP YAYMODCENTRAL' have retained those details and passed them to GOCYBERSHOPPING.

Either that or both those entities are the same organisation.

I think OP has given his card details to the retailer - who in turn has used 2 different payment processors. Still shouldn't be storing the CV code though.

I also agree with the advice given to complain about the most recent payment as unauthorised - there is a chargeback code for duplicate payments and also for one where customer has provided evidence of paying by other means. IMO your bank should have at least tried - it would then be up to the merchant/merchants bank to defend it.
You keep using that word. I do not think it means what you think it means - Inigo Montoya, The Princess Bride

Yes, that's my understanding too - although I didn't bother writing it. :D

I'm going to call them tomorrow, but first I need to formulate exactly what I will say/ask for.

While I see the logic in it being an unauthorised charge, will Santander not just say to me the same thing as before?

Paraphrasing: "Since you have dealt with the merchant before, they can charge you again"

That's the bit that confused me, unless it was a subscription type thing I thought they had no power to take any more of my money :/

    Re-read post#5.

Read about their complaints process here:
You may need to be quite insistent/forceful.

If it's two different companies tell them you've never dealt with the second company and the payments unauthorised.

If their processor never paid them that's not your problem
