Thanks
It will be a multi-stage brew process... pitched into the fermentation bucket for first stage of the brewing process, then siphoned off into the FV barrel for the second stage and then finally bottled off for the third and final stage which is bottle conditioning. Approx. 1 month in total and then it will be ready to enjoy
Having consulted with my guru's of brew this particular kit is, and I quote, " a bloody good one mate!"...
High praise indeed...
So, this is my main task for tomorrow, getting this batch prepped and the process stared... it's a BIG batch and makes approx. 40 pints of good quality Ale... need to get more bottles n caps ordered in thenBUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron
It is important that we know where we come from, because if you do not know where you come from, then you do not know where you are, and if you don't know where you are, then you don't know where you are going. If you don't know where you're going, you're probably going wrong.

Aye, considering the price of a pint these days...
Home brew is cheap and relatively easy to do. However, it does take time and patience...
Having two kits now will mean that I can have one batch brewing while I drink the results of the previous one
A brew pack from Wilko is approx. £12 which will brew 40 pints so it works out at approx. 30 pence per pintvery :money:

A home brew kit in itself costs about £40 initially. Check out your local ALDI as they had the kit I have for £30... if they have any left they may be reduced even further and it includes everything you need, including your first beer to brew
Once you have the kit though it does works out at 30p a pint based on a £12 brew recipe kit
It really is quite easy to do, follow the instructions and you'll do ok, it just takes time and patienceBUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron

Check out your local Wilko as they have a great home brew range... wish I had a Wilko nearer to me, it's a bit of a trip by bus n train so I wait 'til I need a fair bit before going to make the trip worthwhile...
They currently have a starter kit for £30...
Next trip I'll be picking up a 25L fermentation barrel and a few other bits n bobs to compliment my current setup.
With the addition of the 25L fermentation bucket I got yesterday I'll need to use both of my FV barrels to accommodate this brew at it's next main stage. If I was to get a FV Barrel of same capacity then it would cut out the need to decant from the bucket, I could do away with the bucket completely...BUGGRITMILLENIUMHANDANDSHRIMP I TOLD EM! - Foul Ole Ron

Mr SA used to love brewing his own beer. Inspired by your post I mentioned it to him and he said he'd like to have a go again. I think it would give him something to focus on with an end product he'd enjoy. So thanks for the inspirationI get knocked down but I get up again (Chumbawamba, Tubthumping)0
