You could solve a lot of the hassle in DT by having a feature to ignore a specific thread, you press ignore and it dissappears from your screen all together. Don't make it so it is there but says "you are ignoring this thread" because that would be next to useless.
Oh and just to make it more exciting, make it so that you cannot ignore a thread which you have replied to. So you have to delete your replies in the thread before you can put it on ignore.
