This is an “over the garden fence” type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or SLOW internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred. When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly but if not it's not a problem. Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two daily threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new daily thread after they get up in the morning.

Happy holidays Jackie and thanks for the thread x
I am slightly sore this morning havin run 5k on the treadmill last night. Only walked for 2 mins at the beginning to warm up, and 2 mins at the half way point to take on water/stretch out a leg cramp. Felt wonderful given I used to be the dumpy one at school who walked the 800m and was always last in cross country. Watched Mind over Marathan last night - very emotional, would love to run in memory of my nephew and in aid of Mind.
Dinner was baked salmon with 4 veg - DH totally on board with cutting down on carbs.
Today the office will be quiet so I can continue to catch up on filing and other little jobs. Tonight we are at a scout award do as DH will get a long service award
Washing is on, so DH will hang it out later. Last lie in for him for a while!!
Hope you all have a fab day

Have a great holiday JackieO! And others who are about to depart for a break.
I'm up, eating toast, had a good night's sleep apart from ?DS setting the smoke alarm off at 2 am by toasting hot cross buns but we did not beat him to a pulp. Oddly he decided to butter them with a vegetable paring knife, and tge reason for this will ever remain a mystery.
Day off today time for the Friday tidy, and I need to clean the kitchen, then the rest of the day is my own. OH is taking son to specs*vers as his new specs are not right, he will be retested.
Hope everyone has a good dayI was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0 -
Morning All
Damp and dreary this morning but it's Friday!
Have a great break nmlc, JackieO and csarina.
Walked to the library last night as it was dry, went a different route along the river - it was a bit quiet for my liking so walked quickly!
Washing on the pulley, DW emptied and PL made, I'll do the dusting and hoovering when I get home then it'll be done for the weekend.
Happy Friday everyone, take care. XX0 -
Morning everyone.
Coxy - maybe run the marathon next year? Lovely idea.
After my quiet day yesterday I joined my friends at their holiday cottage and managed to persuade them to leave the 'children" there and come back to my place. They didn't need much persuasion :j so we enjoyed a good old chat and drink. They walked back to the cottage and then the two oldest teens cycled to me for the night.
Today? No idea. I'm still in bed, the sky is dull and the tracks look damp. The forecast for next week is Arctic blasts all over the UK!
Happy Friday to all.0 -

Morning folks and Happy Holiday to the lucky ones getting away! JACKIE I'm not an expert on markets round Manchester (North and West Yorks is a different matter!) but I understand Bury market is a good one. Leeds has an indoor and outdoor market but I think the better bargains are in the outside one. Be prepared to bump into quite a few characters though if you visit!!
Being Friday I have the pleasure of the all round clean today. I have a basket of washing to hang out so hope it dries on the line. I already have a pan of my favourite soup cooling in the pan courtesy of the red peppers I got cheap in Leeds market yesterday. A big bag for £1. That's lunch spoken for with a sandwich or toastie and the rest will be frozen.
We have to be at the caravan early Tuesday morning to meet the repairman who is going to fit the new valve on the water heater (at considerable expense I might add!) So we have decided to have a few days there first and take over from DD tomorrow. Just in time for the Arctic blasts arriving!! I need to assemble my box of store cupboard ingredients later to take with us. We have never left our first stay over this late before. Appointments keep getting in the way.
We need to be back home for the Wednesday appointment for the result ofMr TA's brain scan. Hoping a few days away will take our minds off it a bit.
Have a lovely day folks and hope you had a lovely birthday LW. (HUGS) for the poorlies, sad or worried who want one. Take care xx"If you dream alone it will remain just a dream. But if we all dream together it will become reality"0 -
My OH just came downstairs looking like Professor Branestorm and with his t shirt inside out and back to front, what with one setting off the fire alarm and knocking out the electrics (I forgot that bit) and the other unable to dress himself at the age of 62, I despair.I was jumping to conclusions and one of them jumped back0

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's a bit misty here this morning but the sun is trying to shine so I think it's going to be another lovely day. Hubby and the two older girls have left for work/school but DD14 is having a bad day so she is still in bed. Her nurse is coming over this afternoon so I will have a chat with her about it all.
Yesterday was a good day. I decided not to do an online shop so instead I went to Aldi. I was very impressed as I filled a big trolley with lots of fresh food and it came to £80. It would have cost me nearer £100 in Tesco for the same.
I am making beefburgers for tea tonight with some potato wedges and salad. I also want to clean and hoover through as it is a bit dusty.
Hope all you holiday makers have a lovely time.
I hope you all have a great day with plenty of sunshine, take care xx0 -
Morning all
Jackie, have a great hols, AOD, that made me laugh.
It's overcast here but warm on the boat as we lit the stove last night and it's still warm this morning.
We are going back to the house on Sunday as it is easier for us to manage our differing shifts, the following week we will be back on the boat as we are on the same shift.
Plans for today include cleaning the boat windows, inside and out.
Have a great day everyone.
