where to get euros

we are going to Lanzarote in a few weeks time and wondered is it better to get our euros in England on a post office travel money card or use our Santander debit card at a Santander atm in Lanzarote, and where do you get the best rate home or abroad, cheers

    You get a better rate in every little shop in Lanzarote when you exchange than you do anywhere at home. Take cash.

    Your Santander debit in a Santander ATM should work.
    All main adult bank current accounts (those which are credited with at least £500 per month) can benefit from free cash machine withdrawals in Spain at a Santander branded cash machine

    For purchases and ATM withdrawals;

    If in London, get a Metro bank debit card. You can usually get one on the spot if you have the correct documents with you.
    You won't get a better rate than withdrawing cash or spending with that card.

    Otherwise Monzo

    Santander debit card..........
    Also when using your card in the card terminal always select 'Euro' not 'GBP'.
    It seems to be more & more common for the terminal to ask this.

    Sometimes the choice is 'Conversion / Without Conversion' or similar. Always choose 'Without Conversion'.

    snap we are going soon too, can't wait.
    we always get a good rate at our local "wot a gem" jewellers.
    Don,t forget to let your bank/credit company know when you are going or you may have problems.(hubby always tells his cc company that we will be stocking up on duty free and where we are going)
    Have a great time.

    The Canaries aren't EU fiscally so you are limited (to 1 litre of spirits, 200 cigarettes etc.).
