AA membership - no number

Is it normal practice to get AA membership for 12 months on a new car - but without a normal membership number - which is necessary to make use of the AA Breakdown app (you need to register to use it - with your 16 digit number) This is the case with my new Suzuki !

If you dont get a membership no. then you dont get to use the app.
You have inclusive cover ,so whats the drama?
