Yes, it's surprising & depressing that it isn't being called out for what it is & stamped down on.
It's hard to think of too many other countries that would allow their democratically elected leader that treatment.
In today's world it takes no leap of imagination whatsoever to envisage a situation where the hatred being whipped up by these Corbyn supporters holding up huge banners saying "Blood on her hands" etc could lead to some lunatic trying or succeeding to assassinate her. Allowing extremists to organize angry hate-filled mobs is an exceptionally foolish thing to do.
"Stamped down on"
Surely you don't mean "suppression of the people 1930's style"
Perhaps you do!
And this
"It's hard to think of too many other countries that would allow their democratically elected leader that treatment."
Not many other democratically elected leaders (in Europe) have dropped the ball so spectacularly as Mrs May.
I am advised that she is no cold fish but that the triple whammy of Clinging on to power, Brexit and the disaster was just too much for her and the Cabinet to handle.
There are many Country's where such a democratically leader would have done so much better or would have resigned. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -
You appear to have completely ignored the question which was
"I am interested if anyone has found out yet why this very old block had no fire upgrade during the very many years of the last Labour government. "
Instead you chose to simply post yet another article trying to blame the Tories.
Labour had 13 years in power & their treatment of tower blocks was no different than later Governments. This nonstop attempt to pretend that fire risk is some new thing caused by "austerity since 2010" is repulsive.
Labour or as it was know New Labour probably was able to ignore the issue.
Then came along austerity which coincided with someone or need saying let's address the issue.
Well done them we all probably said.
Except we did not (then) realise that the combination of austerity and solving a problem would create the sort of time bomb that killed so many this week. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

Wow, is there a single Labour supporter who isn't going to politicize what happened this week?
To link austerity to this fire is despicable & nonsensical.
Perhaps you should wait until the official enquiry the point the finger of blame?
Of course since Labour supporters are desperately hoping this will lead to another election none of them have any intention of waiting for the enquiry. The tragic deaths this week appear to be merely another weapon to be used in their dirty fight.
Horrific stuff.0 -
You're now condoning fake news deliberately released to stir up mob violence.
Please, please. Rinoa I am quoting another poster and then commenting on the result.
"Deliberately released" if you say so. It probably gained traction as there was a vacuum of news.
Hasn't anyone learned. Basic ball carrying that MRS May and her cabinet were not up to.
Let us not forget who is in charge. The Government. That is who we all look to at these dreadful times for guidance, reassurance and truth,
Non was forthcoming. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

I am not a labour supporter or voter but if you don't understand
"Plain as the nose on your face"
The Government dropped the ball THIS WEEK.
Yes many believe as I do that there is a link between austerity and these failings but we are talking about the British Government (in the shape of Mrs May) failed its people THIS week. There will be no Brexit dividend for Britain.0 -

According to Phillip Hammond this morning the cladding on the flats was illegal.
Nothing to do with austerity then.If I don't reply to your post,
you're probably on my ignore list.0 -

Yes lots of people are talking about it. They would all be happy to see the current Govt fail, that's why they're talking about it.
As has been repeated ad nauseum, let's wait and see what the OFFICIAL ENQUIRY tells us rather than speculate as you are on what caused it.
The people involved in this don't need you, I or anybody else speculating from a position of ignorance on what actually happened. What they need are actual factual answers from the enquiry. The speculation won't help them and is not designed to help them. It's designed to portray the Tories in the worst light possible. Pretty vile stuff.0 -

Unless something has changed in the last day without being reported anywhere, we don't have a British Government yet!0 -
The Tories ran a terrible campaign with someone who was unpopular. Go look at my old posts before the election I said multiple times I would vote for May but that she creeped me out and all her sound bites made her look dim and stupid and were plain annoying.
Despite having this very poor leader and a horrifically sold manifesto corbyn did not get a majority. The Tories didn't lose they got as many MPs as labor + SNP + libs also the country as a whole voted for right leaning parties Tories + DUP
Next time which I hope is in 5 years rather than an election induced by Tory infighting the Tories won't have a leader this poor. At some stage they will lose we don't have a dictatorship but I'm hoping that the next one is on 2022 and they win that one. And that the changeover (which is inevitable at some point) in 2027
The country as a whole didn't vote for right leaning parties DUP/UU/UKIP got total of 3% to add to the tories 42.4%. Lab/Lib/SNP is already over 50% before you add in Greens/PC.
I can't see May lasting until 2022. Two schools of thought - a quick coup whilst brexit is in early stages or one once the two years is up.0 -

Was this cladding illegal on all buildings or just those over a certain height.0
