http://metro.co.uk/2017/06/16/government-ministers-congratulated-themselves-for-cutting-fire-regulations-6713967/In February this year, ministers posted on a government website details of their ‘anti-red tape’ agenda on new-build properties.
In a separate report fire safety inspections, the Conservatives said, had been reduced for some companies from six hours to just 45 minutes.
The move, titled Cutting Red Tape, was part of the Tory plans to abolish a ‘health and safety’ culture that they claimed was hurting money-making businesses.0 -
Corbyn is an extremist & he is backed by Momentum which is riddled with truly nasty individuals & speclalizes in nasty tricks. You only have to look at the treatment of his own MPs who dared to oppose him to see how low these people are.
Be under no illusions, if they can instigate open rioting on the streets & masquerade it as some kind of legitimate protest over this latest tragedy they will do so. Their aim is to topple the Govt.
The sooner this starts being reported for what it is the better.
I was watching 'This Week' a tv programme a couple of days ago that I had previously recorded, and Micheal Portillo warned Liz Kendall that Momentum would destroy Labour MP's like her, who oppose Corbyn, using social media. I didn't think much of it at the time, but when I saw yesterday's protests, I started to see things that I hadn't noticed before. All of a sudden I started to realise what the hell was going on, and it isn't pleasant.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

Things are certainly getting scarier in politics as well as in society.0 -
I don't know much about politics but can't someone like tony Blair come back to lead labour instead?0

Look at this post:
Look who organised the protest
http://uniteresist.org/2017/06/justice-for-grenfell-tonight-friday-16-june-6pm/
'We are a group of trade unionists from the NUT, PCS, Unison, Unite and UCU who called a national convention to discuss the coordinated strike action which took place on 30 November 2011.The conference brought together trade union activists, anti-cuts campaigners, young people, students and pensioners in order to build the widest possible support for the strikes.
Since then we have organised a number of conferences and strive to organise solidarity for those fighting back against austerity.
In solidarity
Unite the Resistance steering committee'
If I had just lost a loved one in such traumatic circumstances, the last thing I would want would be an uninvited, angry mob standing in solidarity with me, demanding answers.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

You're spot on.
Labour have allowed an extremist to take over the party. The media have given him even-handed treatment he's done little to deserve (I'm not aware of any other unrepentent extremist who'd have been treated so mildly). He has basically been allowed to air-brush his past & portray himself as some kind of cuddly socialist. He is anything but. If a BNP member had done the same in the Tory party he'd be attacked constantly by organizations like the BBC. With Corbyn they chat to him on the sofa like this is some abstract liberal debate, and not the future of the country that's at stake.0 -
It's not nonsense, (which you have accused me of a number of times now!). This was avoidable and the growing anger is out there. You may not like it...best put me on ignore....I'd appreciate it.
I am interested if anyone has found out yet why this very old block had no fire upgrade during the very many years of the last Labour government.
That is not politically intended comment, but asking what really changed since then - aside more fires in tower blocks.
The safety of the cladding certainly needs questioning. But it has been used far more globally and widely than just tower blocks for the poor.I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
I do however reserve the right to be correct by accident.0 -

I'm glad at least some newspapers like the Telegraph have picked up on the fact that some of these protesters are not what they first seem.
My view is that a massive error has been made regarding the use of this particular type of cladding in tower blocks, apparently it is already banned on such buildings in both the States and Germany. Something should be, and I've little doubt that it will be done about this.
But calling May a murderer (as some protesters have been shouting), stating the Gov is covering up the number of deaths, demanding an enquiry into Grenfell (when one has already been announced) and demanding the number of dead should be immediately stated (when they don't even know how many have died yet) is not only absolutely ridiculous, but it also shouldn't be done for political advantage.Chuck Norris can kill two stones with one birdThe only time Chuck Norris was wrong was when he thought he had made a mistakeChuck Norris puts the "laughter" in "manslaughter".I've started running again, after several injuries had forced me to stop0 -

One of the reasons for privatization was to absolve the government of the responsibility of long term investment and planning for utilities.
The companies now have to raise the capital themselves.
I can understand why the government would do this. They might foresee major investment needs ahead, and unfortunately Joe Public doesn't value £50bn spent on upgrading things like a load of subterranean wires and pylons (the grid). They demand that government money is spent on social housing and NHS and more obvious signs.0 -
You cannot personally invest in a sprinkler if you live in a flat whether rented or owned.
R&D is not the issue. Its available today. The trade body estimated the costs were £200K.
Most homes have multiple points of exit and are low to the ground. A good set of smoke alarms are pretty good along with sound construction per the building regs.
The flat I am sat in has multiple exits - internal and external stairs and a fully connected and wired and tested smoke alarm system. The advice is also to stay in your flat initially.
Why don't we let the experts do their analysis via the Public enquiry?I am just thinking out loud - nothing I say should be relied upon!
