Vodafone does it again

I cancelled my contract , or should I say I gave vodafone the 30 day notice to cancel my contract on 8th February 2017 , ..........on 7th March my contract terminated , I asked vodaphone for a PAC code on 23rd March , which was not used , so now vodafone have charged me another 2 months rental , I called to dispute this saying you cancelled my contract on 7th March , yet it is still active , they are now arguing that as the code was not used within 30 days , i still have a contract with thenm , yet they cancelled it on 7th March , and today they cancelled the contract AGAIN ..............dont make sense

If you ask for a pac code you have 30days to use it if you don't your contract will carry on until you give them notice again.

Once you give the Pac code to another provider your contract automatically finishes.

So it looks like you canceling the contract as been override by you asking for a Pac code and being you never used it they thought you didn't want to leave after all

Any PAC request will cancel any termination request, a PAC cannot be used on a terminated line.

If you get a PAC then to cancel you have to use the PAC and move the number. If you allowed the PAC to lapse your account continues to stay live and you are still liable to pay line rental until you either get another PAC and use it or give 30 days notice and terminate the line.

Oh, and the text Vodafone send you when you request the PAC actually has a warning in saying exactly that.

So the PAC was still available when requested, sixteen days after the contract had already been terminated (according to OP)..?

The dates the op gives don't make sense! If the contract was cancelled on 8th Feb, there is no way a pac can be generated on 23rd of March, the acc would be dead...

I suspect 23 March is a typo for 23 February.

Asking for a PAC would halt the earlier cancellation of the contract. A number cannot be moved once the cancellation has gone through. On the other hand, the action of porting of a number to a different provider cancels the existing contract on the day the number moves.

If you get a PAC and then do not use it, you simply stay with the same provider and the contract continues as before. As you didn't use the PAC, you didn't change provider and hence continued with Vodafone.

You either get a PAC if you want to cancel and take your number with you, or you simply cancel if you do not want the number any more. You cannot do both.
