Spare Tyre - how long can it be used for?

I have a ford fiesta zetec and I'm awaiting a new alloy wheel as my other is punctured, thus tyres kept going flat. The spare tyre has been fitted in the meantime - it has no details on it other than a 80km/mph sticker. Does anyone know how long it's safe to drive on it for? Have read a lot about spare tyres only being suitable to get to / from garage etc, but it just seems like a normal tyre to me (minus the alloy part!).

PS asking as meant to drive 50 miles tomorrow in total and not sure if it's suitable to do it or not on said tyre. Thanks.

So the spare is a steel rim say an inch smaller than your alloy rather than a space saver?

Sorry - I'm not very familiar with what a space saver would look like so have just assumed my 'spare' tyre is that because of the speed restriction. It just has one 80km/mph sticker on it - not yellow stickers all over the shop (google seems to suggest space savers have more stickers on them).

the spare will be narrower and/or a different diameter to your normal tyres if it has the 80KM/h sticker on. If it were normal size the speed restriction wouldn't apply so it would not have a sticker on.

Thanks - yes expect it is different to my normal tyres, but just wondering still whether it would be OK to do the 50 mile round trip on it tomorrow or not.

It should be good for plenty of miles, assuming you keep under the 80km/h it warns you about. a 50 mile round trip should be fine

Have a look in the glove box. There should be an instruction book.

Are you ok with sticking to 50mph on the motorway, A roads?
