Ford bluetooth issue
Options
I have posted this in the Ford Owners Club forums but had no joy, so hoping someone on here might be able to help me...
I bought my 09 S-Max Titanium last summer, but I have had, since I bought it, an issue with the bluetooth and the stereo.
My phone connects fine, i can make and receive calls and access my contacts etc, but the stereo will simply not play music from my phone (it's an iphone if that helps). I can select Ford Audio on my phone for the speaker source, but the message i get on my display is "audio mute," so i have to plug the phone in with an aux cable to the glove box. I have reset the stereo (by unplugging the fuse and putting back) and changed the battery in Feb (so know the bluetooth unit has been without power and reconnected) but nothing has changed.
I was fine with using an aux cable with an iphone 6 due to being able to plug that an a charger in when using the phone as a sat nav and for audio, but now i have an iphone 7 i am a bit stuck.
What I'm getting to is if anyone knows of a ford specialist or mechanic (auto electrician??) that could sort my bluetooth out in or around the west midlands (i dont mind a bit of travelling if i have to!) and how much it may cost me to get this sorted? I have heard it can be a pricey fix through a ford dealer who may not actually sort it...
Many thanks in advance

Care to expand? Especially as I have explained they sync contacts effortlessly, I can make and receive calls, and use Siri through the bluetooth easily enough if i need it to read texts to me and to reply hands free?0 -
Should it play music?
A lot of stereos of that era, such as my A6, will use Bluetooth for the phone only.0 -
I have a 14 plate transit connect and a 63 plate fiesta both with Bluetooth and fiancees iphone works fine in both so it may be an issue with software.
Not sure if the software/hardware has changed since 09 plate but you can play music through the USB port. If you press AUX button it cycles through BT aux port and USB. At least that's what it does on mine. Might be a workaround for you.
Also check iphone is not muted on side switch.0 -
Its most likely not going to do it depending on what head unit is fitted. I have a 2010 Ford Mondeo and it'll do calls and contacts but Bluetooth music playback isn't an option and its a limitation of the module/head unit. I have to upgrade the head unit to get that functionality. This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0

I have the Sony head unit in there, according to my handbook it should handle the phone's music too. I also get the option to play music/podcasts through Ford Audio on my phone, so I think it's the software. I have looked for a USB port today but cannot see one so will have to ring Ford on Tuesday i think...0
