After checking to see how the signal is where you are going to stay, then check you can't get any free wifi hot-spot signals with your broadband supplier (eg Virgin/Sky/BT who all offer this). Next check to see if your broadband supplier offers any sort of a deal on a dongle or similar -call then/use the chat thing on their website and explain your issue to check just in case things have been updated but not formally updated on the website.

After this your only options are to get a short term (monthly/weekly/daily...etc depending on how long you think you will use it for) dongle which will fit a laptop or tablet. I've got a friend who goes around the UK a lot and uses a '3' pay as you go deal when they do, personally I'd use just about any other supplier but they recon three are the cheapest for the short bursts of time they go away for.

I wouldn't buy a dongle unless you have to. When I go away I use an old phone and a PAYG SIM (one which allows tethering) as a WiFi hotspot.
  • Be warned YouTube is very data hungry. Recently bought a 2GB a month mifi from Three. Already used over 500mb for around 30 minutes of use.

  • Bank on £20 for a MiFi. Second hand Osprey 2 (Gumtree etc) or new Huawei 3G unit.

    https://www.mymemory.co.uk/3-payg-4g-trio-data-sim-pack-incl-12gb-data.html 12GB of data for £23.95.

Of course you can save money on a MiFi and tether from a Smartphone if available.
