I'm moving out soon, I wondered if I could transfer money into a savings account and use that to take my bills out?

It appears from previous posts that you are just about to move into a rented property.
You would normally pay your household bills ( Council Tax, gas/electricity/ telephone/water) from a current account, usually by Direct Debit - you will probably pay your rent by monthly Standing Order.

But you might prefer to open a Santander 123?

I apologise NatWest use the terminology online payment now a days.
However it is possible to send an online payment from a NatWest saving account.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -

Bills can be paid by a Faster Payment with the appropriate reference.
If a savings account offers this, then it can 'be used to pay bills'.
Direct Debits are just an alternate method of paying bills! This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

My question stands: Which Natwest savings accounts support Direct Debits?Bills can be paid by a Faster Payment with the appropriate reference.

Why do you insist on DD?
stclair said "send bill payments", the OP's "take my bills out" was very vague. I think bills, at least some, can be paid by a bank transfer.0 -

I know that. I'd still like to know which Natwest savings accounts support Direct Debits.
I've not mentioned anything regarding direct debits. The Op ask about paying bills from a savings account and I've advised they can send a bill payment via a savings account as grumbler as also stated.Im an ex employee RBS GroupHowever Any Opinion Given On MSE Is Strictly My Own0 -
My understanding of a direct debit is that you give permission for your account to give the payee what they request (subject to their informing you of the amount) on an agreed basis (ie weekly, monthly, annually etc ).
Sending money from a savings account to pay a bill owed, would be just like a normal transfer out, but I doubt that a savings account, unlike a current account would allow withdrawals by dd. (There are savings accounts, notably Tesco's online saver, which will draw dds from elsewhere, though, but I believe the source has to be in the same name as the savings account).0 -
