Depends where from. Cash is a very common method of buying cars privately. There are so many scams with payment methods both ways that it gives both seller and buyer some security.0 -

My friend and I went to my branch on Saturday with my id and his bank statement to show how he acquired the £7000 in the first place. (Cashier didn't even ask to see it). The cashier asked me to speak to the fraud dept over the phone. They wanted to check I wasn't being coerced, did I know friend etc. I then read an onscreen statement saying similar thing, and the cashier put a tick in the "yes ok" box. Cash was successfully withdrawn. I do appreciate your comments and I do feel a twit for not thinking Lloyds could be suspicious. I also appreciate Lloyds being cautious. However, the fraud dept could have spoken to me in the bank last Thursday when I had my id and avoided all the kerfuffle of sale falling through and two visits to the branch. Lesson learnt0
