Shows how the budget really doesn't register with people anymore.

I remember years ago the increase in cost of petrol, booze, fags and car tax was talked about after the speech. Now its a none event.

I think this year in particular all the self employed media types were self-obsessed with the rise in National Insurance for the self employed and very little else got much of a look in.

And then the humiliating non-Thatcher U turn when they realised that it was their voters and sponsors who would be affected :D

They are fixing that gaffe with a slight re distribution of the wards, and making it a requirement for types of ID that Labour voters won't have, so it will be virtually impossible to vote them out again ;)

Great, so those who never contribute to society will lose their right to take from it, rock on, no complaints at that, let those who pay their taxes get the benefit!

To be fair those things taking a hit is so common place there's not really much to discuss.

Ignoring the redistribution of wards which addresses a massive problem where Labour have a huge advantage in votes meaning they need far fewer to get MPs elected, I am curious about voter ID though, do you have a source for a parliamentary consultation or the bill etc? Your comment sounds like the proposed changes in the US which are indeed about stopping Democrats from being able to vote due to a variety of reasons like not being able to afford the ID or not being able to get to the tiny number of places that will let them register due to having to work (the Republicans traditionally are more wealthy and already have ID like driving license)

Sam Vimes' Boots Theory of Socioeconomic Unfairness:

People are rich because they spend less money. A poor man buys $10 boots that last a season or two before he's walking in wet shoes and has to buy another pair. A rich man buys $50 boots that are made better and give him 10 years of dry feet. The poor man has spent $100 over those 10 years and still has wet feet.

Except it is all about us paying our huge taxes, whilst they & their mates also pay all their taxes, but strangely they pay proportionally a lot less than we do :rotfl:

As said often enough on here- if you can't afford to run a car, simply walk.
Fine in 1962, when there were plenty of factories etc. within walking distance less so now. :o
